Jeremiah 47:2
This is what the Lord says: "See how the waters are rising in the north;
they will become an overflowing torrent.
They will overflow the land and everything in it,
the towns and those who live in them.
The people will cry out;
all who dwell in the land will wail
they will become an overflowing torrent.
They will overflow the land and everything in it,
the towns and those who live in them.
The people will cry out;
all who dwell in the land will wail

This verse reminded me of Moses' Exodus from Egypt and how God parted the Red Sea so the Israelites could cross over on dry ground and the closed it up behind them to swallow up the Egyptians that pursued them

Jeremiah 46:28
Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant,
for I am with you," declares the Lord.
"Though I completely destroy all the nations
among which I scatter you,
I will not completely destroy you.
I will discipline you but only in due measure;
I will not let you go entirely unpunished."

"Though I completely destroy all the nations
among which I scatter you,
I will not completely destroy you.
I will discipline you but only in due measure;
I will not let you go entirely unpunished."
Jerry W. from Colorado Springs, CO said:
The Lord, our God, is always with His servants and, although He will utterly destroy those that are not with Him that surround His servants, He will never completely destroy His own. On the other hand He will punish us when we stray from the way He wants us to go, but He will only punish us to the degree called for by our offense(s). Even though we are His children, His servants, He will not let us go unpunished if we sin against Him.

Jeremiah 45:5
Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the Lord, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.' "

One of the greatest lessons that I have learned since becoming a Christian is that anytime I do anything to glorify myself and not to bring lorry and honor to God, I fail miserably, no matter how simple the task may be. As the Apostle Paul instructs us in Colossians 3:23-24 "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ."

Jeremiah 43:2
Azariah son of Hoshaiah and Johanan son of Kareah and all the arrogant men said to Jeremiah, "You are lying! The Lord our God has not sent you to say, 'You must not go to Egypt to settle there.'
Jerry W. from Colorado Springs, CO said:
This verse got me to thinking about how often out of pride and arrogance we think that we know better what's better for us than God does. Even as a Christian I have heard God speaking to me through a brother or sister in Christ, but because what they said the Lord had told them to tell me didn't agree with what I felt in the flesh, I denied it as a message from God. As Proverbs 16:18 states, "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall." Pride and arrogance was one of the biggest stumbling blocks in my walk wit God when I first came to Christ and one that I battle with for many years. For the most part I have overcome pride and arrogance, but if I'm not careful it will still raise it evil, hoary head from time to time.

Jeremiah 42:6
Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God."
Jerry W. from Colorado Springs, CO said:
To always obey God, to always do His will without questioning what He would have me to do, was one of the hardest lessons I had to learn as a Christian. I had done many bad things back in my B & C days, robbing banks, transporting and selling illegal weapons, etc., but there were some things that I never did and I hated anyone that did them. Rapist and child molesters, I would have had no compunction about killing them, they were the scum of the earth in my eyesight, just as they were/are in the sight of most men. After I became a Christian, I still didn't like them, even after the Holy Spirit led me into the ministry, I didn't like them and what they did. I still don't like being around them, but that's the "Old Man" in me, in order to minister to them, which is God's will for me, I have to constantly remind myself that Christ died for them and their sins just as much as He died for mine. I think that this is something that I will be struggling with until the day Jesus returns or the day that I go home to be with Jesus.

Jeremiah 41:8
But ten of them said to Ishmael, "Don't kill us! We have wheat and barley, olive oil and honey, hidden in a field." So he let them alone and did not kill them with the others.
Jerry W. from Colorado Springs, CO said:
Once again what I'm about to write has nothing to do with this verse per se but what the ten men reminded me of, the inequality between the rich and the poor when man's justice is handed out in this world. On far too many occasions men guilty of murder have escaped man's justice because they could afford high power lawyers and had the money to buy off witnesses. On other occasions innocent men have gone to prison because they were poor and couldn't afford a good lawyer. I have known men that were a menace to society and belonged in prison but were free to kill again because they had money. I've also known men in prison who were actually innocent of the crime and were there because they were poor and hadn't been able to mount a good defense.

Jeremiah 40:16
But Gedaliah son of Ahikam said to Johanan son of Kareah, "Don't do such a thing! What you are saying about Ishmael is not true."
Jerry W. from Colorado Springs, CO said:
We all need to be very careful about what we say about other people, we especially need to be extremely careful about what we say about our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Even if we know something to be true beyond the shadow of a doubt, more often than not, it's wiser to not talk about it with others because as Christians we need to be building one another up, not tearing one another down. We need to pray more and gossip less because gossiping can hurt a brother or sister that we are suppose to love, we are suppose to love one another just as Christ loved/loves us!

Jeremiah 39:12
"Take him and look after him; don't harm him but do for him whatever he asks."
Jerry W. from Colorado Springs, CO said:
Perhaps I'm taking these verse out of context, but verses 11 through 14 took me back in time to the time of my own confinement. As I reflect back on those days now, I know that everything that happened to me was the Lord's doing, I was considered an escape risk and was to be treated as highly dangerous, my hands and feet were considered deadly weapons, yet almost from the very beginning I was given positions of trust by the prison authorities. Within six months I was given the job of the duty electrician, I was free to move about the prison day and night while the other inmates were locked in their cells. Because of my job I was allowed into areas of the prison where no other inmate was ever allowed to go, areas where I could have done a great deal of damage to prison security. I never did anything to earn that trust or the freedom that came with it, I was never a C.I., a confidential informant, a snitch, so I know that it was God looking out for me, His way of making my time in confinement easier, more tolerable, and I give Him all the credit for that.

Jeremiah 38:20
"They will not hand you over," Jeremiah replied. "Obey the Lord by doing what I tell you. Then it will go well with you, and your life will be spared.
Jerry W. from Colorado Springs, CO said:
We may not have a Jeremiah in our lives to tell us what God would have us do, but we do have God's Holy Spirit dwelling within us, guiding us, telling us what God the Father would have us do, and God the Father speaks directly to us through His Holy Word. When we obey the leading of the Holy Spirit, when we hear and obey the voice of God as He speaks to us through His written Word, things always goes well for us, but when we disregard the leading of the Holy Spirit and turn a deaf ear to the voice of God, things never go well for us. To use an old expression, I have walked in places where angels feared to tread in my efforts to take the good news to gang members without fear because I entered those places because I felt the Holy Spirit leading me and I heard God's voice telling me to enter those places.

Jeremiah 37:9
"This is what the Lord says: Do not deceive yourselves, thinking, 'The Babylonians will surely leave us.' They will not!
Jerry W. from Colorado Springs, CO said:
This verse got me to thinking about how we have a tendency to deceive ourselves into thinking when everything is going good for us that we can do it on our own and really don't need God in our day to day life. Oh, how foolish we are at times to think that we don't need God's guidance and protection even in the most trivial matters. I thank God daily that He knows how to humble me when I become puffed up with pride over my accomplishments, forgetting that it was God who gave me the abilities to achieve those things.
