Acts 5:39
But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God."

Over the years I have found myself questioning wheather I was doing God's will or my own in many circumstances. This verse reminds me that when we are in God's will things usually go much more smoothly. When we try to go against God's will (follow our own path) for our lives we often find ourselves struggling or "fighting against God." v39

Luke 16:15
He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God's sight.

This is all too true in the world today. We especially as Americans need to remember wealth should not be the most important thing in our lives. It is hard to keep ourselves from wanting the "latest and greatest" things and aquiring more and more, but with God's help we can! We must stay focused on God and not let the things of the world or what others think of us hinder that.

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

In this chapter, Jesus makes this same statement not once, but twice! Jesus wanted us to truly understand how God feels when a sinner repents. All of heaven rejoices over each sinner who repents!

For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

I love this verse because it shows us that salvation is for everyone and not just a particular group of people!

Luke 10:27
He answered, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "

We have all grown up learning the "golden rule", but we must also remember the first part of this verse; " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'." I have read this verse many times over the years and I never took notice to the little word that is between these two commands, "AND". Christ actually told us to love God AND each other. These two commands were never meant to be seperated.

Matthew 9:13
But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

Carl L. from Live Oak, TX said:
I am so thankful that Jesus came to this Earth for the sinners! If he had come for just the righteous then not one of us would be able to enter the Kingdom of God!

Matthew 8:29
"What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"

As we read the Bible we find many passages where God has a planned time for everything. As Christians we look forward to the day when Christ will return as God has planned. Even Satan and his demons are bound by God's plans and they know a day will come where they will ultimately be judged and punished!

Matthew 5:46
If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?

Carl L. from Live Oak, TX said:
As Christians we must get out of our "comfort zone" and meet others who may need our help. Too often we stay within the walls of our churches and rarly venture out to minister to those who need to be ministered to. Those who need to hear the Gospel are those who we don't love or call friends. We are commanded to go into all the earth and spread the gospel, not just inside our church.

This verse is another of many where Joseph heard from the Lord and obeyed without hesitation! We as Christians should obey God as Joseph did with everything God asks of us.

Joseph had great faith in God! He didn't question what God asked him to do, he just listened and obeyed! I pray that my faith in God would be as strong in everything God asks of me.

I was thinking along those lines as well brother Carl. God can, and will by the Indwelling of His Spirit in us. I just recently started praying for stength for the end times, because we are commanded to, so we may escape such things! (Luke 21:36).
