Luke 16:15
He said to them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of others, but God knows your hearts. What people value highly is detestable in God's sight.
Nancy M. from Runnemede, NJ said:
And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.
Luke 16:15 – “. . . The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7b) Many times we try to make people think we are something that we are not so that they will like us. We have only one person to please and that is the Lord. The applause of men will never satisfy us and will soon fade away. When we die, we can take nothing with us but we can send it ahead. “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.” (Luke 12:21) "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 20:19-21) Father in Heaven, this world has nothing for me. It is not my home. I am just passing through this world until You come and get me.

People pleasers or what the world calls brown-nosers are those who have conformed to this world's way of.doing and being. In an attempt to be accepted and not rejected, we compromise what the Word clearly says is an abomination to the Lord our God. But God is not fooled for one second and He knows what is truly in our hearts. What's your motive? Do you just give God lip service or are you doing what He says and living like He says we should live?

We are to value nothing more than God. God is to be first and most important in everything, word, thought and deed. Jesus states that no one can get to God without going through him first. esus had no money, no worldly goods. God the Father was foremost in his life as he is to be in ours. No one can serve two masters.

There are those who put on a good front and even attend church every week and yet do not know the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour. Sadly there are even pastors who do not preach the truth of God's word. I grew up in a church where salvation by grace was never preached. I was in my 40s before I heard the salvation message and realized I needed to confess my sins to Jesus and ask Him to forgive me. Iam still on my journey of learning and bettering my walk with Christ. May God touch ervery heart and bring revelation of Christ, who He is and their need for Him in their lives.

This is all too true in the world today. We especially as Americans need to remember wealth should not be the most important thing in our lives. It is hard to keep ourselves from wanting the "latest and greatest" things and aquiring more and more, but with God's help we can! We must stay focused on God and not let the things of the world or what others think of us hinder that.

This is after Jesus says, "you cannot serve both God and Money". The Pharasees sneered because they knew He was talking about them. Although some try to justify their actions before the people, God really knows our hearts. The things which people deem to be worthy are actually hated by God.
