Luke 10:27
He answered, " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "

The first half of God's commandment is so easy for most of us but we struggle with the last part, love your neighbor as yourself. Why do we struggle? If we would change our mindset to that of Jesus, who loves us even though we do not deserve that kind of love, we would find this entire commandment so easy and rewarding.

We have all grown up learning the "golden rule", but we must also remember the first part of this verse; " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'." I have read this verse many times over the years and I never took notice to the little word that is between these two commands, "AND". Christ actually told us to love God AND each other. These two commands were never meant to be seperated.

Following these words is the teaching / story of the good Samaritan. It is hard to love our neighbour because it takes time, energy and may even cost you something (let alone love our enemies). Yet, if we don't, we are actually showing we don't love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind. When we love our neighbour, we are actually showing our love for God. Jesus said, "Go and do likewise". Help me Lord not to be selfish but to serve (love) You as I serve (love) others and go where you are leading.
