To this day they persist in their former practices. They neither worship the Lord nor adhere to the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands that the Lord gave the descendants of Jacob, whom he named Israel.

The Lord afflicted the king with leprosy until the day he died, and he lived in a separate house. Jotham the king's son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.

I've often wondered why the Lord struck him with leprosy since he was one of the kings who did right in God's eyes. Perhaps to keep him seperate so he wouldn't become corrupt?

The man of God was angry with him and said, "You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times."

Jehoash should have been more enthusiastic in obeying Elisha when striking the arrows on the ground and not just put the minimal effort into it. I wonder about my own enthusiasm when the Lord ask me to do something.

All the people of the land went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed the altars and idols to pieces and killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.Then Jehoiada the priest posted guards at the temple of the Lord.

How ironic to put all that effort into cleaning up one area of sin concerning Baal, but yet still have another whole area not dealt with. Proof of our need for Jesus, our Savior!

Our ways are not God's ways that is for sure. Naaman had to humble himself if he really wanted to be healed and go do as Elisha had said.

Interesting and a good thing that Jehoshapat wanted a real prophet of the Lord, not just a bunch of fake prophets like some of the kings before him used. Perhaps, it made the difference between winning or loosing the battle.
