To this day they persist in their former practices. They neither worship the Lord nor adhere to the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands that the Lord gave the descendants of Jacob, whom he named Israel.

If we would just listen and do what the Lord says, we would avoid a lot of grief, just like Israel would have.

Sooooo true, Janet. It's so easy to get off the path and before I know it, I'm in the thick of the devils trap. But God is merciful, He yanks my leash, cuz I gave Him permission to, and gets me back on track. And He's given me wonderful friends to help me put it in perspective.

The Lord afflicted the king with leprosy until the day he died, and he lived in a separate house. Jotham the king's son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.

Janet S. from Farmington, NY said:
I've often wondered why the Lord struck him with leprosy since he was one of the kings who did right in God's eyes. Perhaps to keep him seperate so he wouldn't become corrupt?

Sure is puzzling, Janet. Perhaps it's to show that even believers are not immune to health problems. Guess we'll have to wait til we reach heaven to understand it all. God bless.

2 Kings 13:19
The man of God was angry with him and said, "You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times."

Janet S.
Janet S. from Farmington, NY said:
Jehoash should have been more enthusiastic in obeying Elisha when striking the arrows on the ground and not just put the minimal effort into it. I wonder about my own enthusiasm when the Lord ask me to do something.

All the people of the land went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed the altars and idols to pieces and killed Mattan the priest of Baal in front of the altars.

Then Jehoiada the priest posted guards at the temple of the Lord.

However, he did not turn away from the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat, which he had caused Israel to commit—the worship of the golden calves at Bethel and Dan.

How ironic to put all that effort into cleaning up one area of sin concerning Baal, but yet still have another whole area not dealt with. Proof of our need for Jesus, our Savior!

But Naaman went away angry and said, "I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.
Janet S.

Our ways are not God's ways that is for sure. Naaman had to humble himself if he really wanted to be healed and go do as Elisha had said.

2 Kings 3:11
But Jehoshaphat asked, "Is there no prophet of the Lord here, through whom we may inquire of the Lord?"

An officer of the king of Israel answered, "Elisha son of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah. "

Janet S.
Janet S. from Farmington, NY said:
Interesting and a good thing that Jehoshapat wanted a real prophet of the Lord, not just a bunch of fake prophets like some of the kings before him used. Perhaps, it made the difference between winning or loosing the battle.
