The man of God was angry with him and said, "You should have struck the ground five or six times; then you would have defeated Aram and completely destroyed it. But now you will defeat it only three times."

It is strange, Elisha didn't tell Jehoash how many times to strike the ground and yet was angry with him when he struck it only three times. There must have been some cultural thing that should have caused Jehoash to strike the ground multiple times with the arrows.

Jehoash should have been more enthusiastic in obeying Elisha when striking the arrows on the ground and not just put the minimal effort into it. I wonder about my own enthusiasm when the Lord ask me to do something.
