2 Kings 16:3
He followed the ways of the kings of Israel and even sacrificed his son in the fire, engaging in the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites.

The kings/government aren't always right, but they are still upon the shoulders of Christ. The Spirit leads us to knowing what is right and what is wrong, when we seek His guidance.

As is told, Ahaz did not follow the ways of the Lord but I cannot imagine a father being so demented as to sacrifice his son in the fire. He was most likely, according to Biblical notes, referencing the sacrifice of children in the worship of Molech in notes of 1Kings 11:5-7, but how he could sacrifice his son in the fire is unimaginable. Sure wouldn't want to be in his shoes when he faced the judgment of God.

Good insight to this verse Lloyd, the first king of Israel to adopt sacrificing children to Moloch, and as we saw in this chapter he choose his son, and may be his first son. But it seems like it is worse today my brother with the abortion issue. Blessings brother on Resurrection Day.

This verse appears to me that king Ahaz of Israel was the first king and the worst king of Israel who adopted Moloch worship of the Ammonites and Moabities and made his son probably his first born pass through the fire. Child sacrifices is something that God hates passionately. Deuteronomy 13:31 You must not worship the Lord God in their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates. "They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.

Amen Peter. Same verse again and I believe you expressed it better than I but we both had very similar thoughts regarding child sacrifice. I just cannot imagine how a parent could do that, and yet, perhaps it relates to God and the sacrifice of His only Son for our sake. Be blessed as we celebrate Resurrection Day of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. :-)

Ahaz followed the ways of the world/nations. We as Christians are to follow Christ and not things of this world. Worldliness is not Godliness

I can't wrap my head around this how could he burn his son to death. It's amazing that they fell that far from David's example. Society driven religion can justify a lot of sin and it is easy to live in the worlds religion and practices. God give me the strength not to accept even the little things that are not of your will.

Yea very true how violent that must be for the child to be ripped out. It is so hard to understand especially since last March my daughter was 5 months pregnant with twins did everything she could to give them what they needed,to be healthy but the doctor missed several sings of a complication that could have been treated but wasn't and resulted in her having to deliver them still born. She has not been the same since. She puts her faith in God but is still struggling. Can't quite get the why out of her head. I know I am not the judge but it is so hard to understand abortion and how people choose it and how accepted it is by society. Maybe when she is ready my daughter can use her pain to give a voice to the unborn from abortion.

God never asked anyone to offer their son in fire, except for Abraham to test him and then he did not have to follow through with it because God already had an alternate plan. I just cannot get it through my head how a man could offer his son in the fire to worship, obviously just as a religious ritual. He will obviously due to his wicked ways be eternally condemned to the fires of hell. Just my thoughts.

It's not to far of a cry from paying ur girlfriend (and some even their wives) to have an abortion cuz a baby would be inconvenient. It's still the shedding of innocent blood that grieves the heart of God.

Oh so true, Donna, and it's sickening. I believe the abortions in America is approaching 60 million since 1973 and there are no abortion laws in Canada and I have no idea how many there have been here. Our Prime Minister will not even allow parliament to address the issue. That surprises me because he is a believer. Our world is in a mess right now and we need a move of God like never before. God bless
