But Naaman went away angry and said, "I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.

Naaman's pride almost kept him from receiving his healing. He was a 'hero' and he expected special treatment by Elisha. Didn't Elisha know who he was? Thankfully his servant was able to convince him to do what Elisha told him to do. Often times people respond the same way to God's offer of forgiveness. Just to believe in Jesus Christ by faith doesn't seem enough to some. What Naaman had to do to have his leprosy washed away is similar to what we have to do to have our sin washed away. We need to humbly accept God's mercy found only in Jesus!

Well expressed, Terry. Haaman was humbled when he did as Elisha had instructed via his servant. God bless.

I love this scripture because it is exactly the type of attitude many of us have when we come before the Lord. Some may think, "if I go to church I should be blessed otherwise I will not go. When giving to the house of the Lord some may say, "I'm not going to give since God doesn't bless me with much anyway". Some may say "I'm not going to pray since my prayers never came true anyway". In this verse, Naaman expected to see Elisha praying and laying his hand on his sores so that he would be healed, instead he was told to go wash himself in the Jordan seven times. Let us not set false expectations in our walk with God but let us have faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and believe that no matter what he commands us to do or allows to happen to us, it is for our benefit and not to harm us. Only with such faith will we not be stumbled by obstacles along the way and be able to continue in the race.

Naaman expected something grandiose, but instead he had to exercise some faith and humility. He had to humble himself before God.

Our ways are not God's ways that is for sure. Naaman had to humble himself if he really wanted to be healed and go do as Elisha had said.
