The commands of the Lord aught to be our most treasured possession we have, and as we apply them to our lives will keep us from the eternal torments of hell. Lord, help me/us to always remember and act upon Your commands, that I/we may spend eternity in Your presence. Amen

Sin gives pleasure for a season, but is disobedience always has negative consequences. True wisdom; that is the wisdom from God obeys the commands of His Word. "My son, keep my words and store up my commands-saturate your mind with the Word of God, pray also, as Jesus said "that you may not enter into temptation"

This verse spoke greatly to me today. I am a new born and I have been desiring to know him more, to get closer to him, etc. and I have wondered how I need to do it and this spoke to me telling me how. To me it means to keep what he says and do it faithfully.

Blessings to you and welcome Davee. Great to see you have a hunger for the things of the Lord. If I could suggest to you as a new born, I found the book of John to be the one book, as a new born, that helped me. I was a late comer to Christ but am approaching 26 years as a believer now. The next book that excited me was Acts. There's no such thing as a bad book of the Bible but some are easier to digest early on. I encourage you to keep reading and praying for the Lord to reveal more to you. The book we are in right now, Proverbs is one to read and re-read too as it is full of wisdom of God and can be read through, a chapter a day, pretty well each month. It is so neat how you may read a Scripture many times and then one day you'll read it again and all of a sudden that portion will jump out at you, because that's what you need at that time. God bless you Davee.

Lloyd, Thanks! Great to hear from you. I am so hungry and am wanting more and more, but I know I have to be patient and take it as it comes to me, but I can't help it. I am so hungry and desiring of the knowledge of him and just exactly how I am supposed to live my life right. It was good to hear this from you and I will definitely look into John.

It seems that we have been given many commands and reasons for not committing physical adultery in the last 3 chapters. God also hates it when His bride commits spiritual adultery with other "gods" in our lives - anything that takes us from making Jesus and His kingdom and purposes from being # 1. Even doing some "good" things which still aren't the best can be a form of adultery. We need to have wisdom and seek first His kingdom and His righteousnenss (Matt 6:33). Help us all Lord put you first.

Great point, Allan, and so many do just that. Even though things may be good they sometimes darw our attention from our God. God bless you.
