Love this. Just as there is light in a lamp for all to see, we too are a lamp for all to see, the light that shines in us thru Jesus Christ!!

Luke 7:50
Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

Our faith is what will save us! Jesus has made it so clear as to what we need to do to be saved, to ensure the right to his kingdom...all we have to do is obey and have faith. Yes it is hard in a world full of sin and hate but this world is not our home...we have been promised greater and richer things in God our Father and I choose to wait for the unseen than indulge in what is seen.

Thank You, Lord Jesus. Your gift is worth more than any other. Help me/us to live a life pleasing to You and give me/us an increased measure of faith, as this world is currently influenced by the enemy's temptations and lies. Amen

This whole chapter speak s volumes to me. One thing that I have learned is that being rich does not make you happy, havig all the material things of this world does not mean nothing...Our riches are in the realtionship that we have in God, the humility that we have as Chrsistians is more than silver and gold!

Sadly, the church has often preached that you need to be poor (financially) to be holy but if we look at what Jesus is truly saying here, is that we don't have to be poor, hungry and weeping to be righteous. These things bring blessings only as they are endured through discipleship for Jesus' sake. (v.22) In this passage poverty of spirit, hungering after righteousness, weeping over one's sins are sources of blessing. The term "poor" refers to humble poor, who's trust is in God's help in the midst of their poverty, referring to being humble. (Matt. 5:3) God bless, Brandy.

As a new Christian I still have lots to learn in order to have the same wisdom and understanding as someone who has been on their walk with the Lord for longer than I have...I must keep seeking and gaining knowledge in order to "match" and elder in Christ.

Welcome to the family of God. The Holy Spirit will teach you and sanctify you as you continue in His Word. Read it. Memorize it. Meditate on it. Pray about it. Study it.

I back up Allan's comment, Brandy. So many I have seen, come to the Lord but fail to follow through and, as Allan says, read study, meditate and memorize the word of God so that it becomes part of our being. I've been saved 26 years and still am working on studying and applying. God bless you, Brandy.

Luke 4:4
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone.' "

brandy N.
brandy N. from Midland, TX said:
we shall not live on bread alone, we need to feed ourselves the word of God so that we to can come against the ways of the world and the evil that is present here on this earth, so that we may live obedient to God until we are called home. So that we can secure our place in Heaven...this world and all its bread is nothing compared to what is waiting for us in Heaven, for Jesus has gone ahead and prepared our place...Thank You Jesus, Thank you Father God!!!

Mark 12:44
They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on."

brandy N. from Midland, TX said:
This verse is so powerful to me...While there are many who have the wealth to give to those in need and to pay yout tithes without worry there are many others, like myself, when giving just a few dollars is hard because it is all we may have, but it is then that we should trust in the Lord even more because he is the provider of all things, even our finances. That is the ultimate test in faith, will you give all you have and trust that the Lord that he will give you all you need?

Mark 8:36
What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
brandy N.
brandy N. from Midland, TX said:
the things of this world are merely things, We are not of this world so why would the things of this world be so important? They arent important enough to gain and yet lose Jesus in the process cause if we desire the world and what it has to offer more than Jesus we lose our soul and our connection to Jesus and eternal life in his kingdom! I would much rather be with Jesus!!
