Exodus 30:15
The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less when you make the offering to the Lord to atone for your lives.

I see this gift to the Lord as one which represents all people as being equal before the Lord, whether rich or poor, and is obviously is an amount that anyone, whether rich or poor, could afford. The Lord considers all equal in His eyes, regardless of their human status in life. Thank You Lord, that all humanity are equal before You, whether rich or poor. Amen

Excellent insight to this verse Lloyd, God shows no favoritism between rich or poor. Romans 2: 11 For God does not show Favoritism. Can't say much you nailed it. The peace of the Lord be with you

This is a symbol that everyone is equal in the eyes of The Lord. No one life is any more important than the other. The worldly possessions are not what make us special it's how we use them while we are here that counts.

This shows that god is fair to all. He obviously will provide if he.gives these rules but everyone is trwated equal so they all must pay equally. This can be applied to today as we all constanrly either our orselves on a pedistal or others Aw never make everyone equal bc some have money, others are broke. Or Aw decide what kind of society we live in and form our barriers between ourselves and people around us sue to opinions of everyone else and judgement. God doesn't so that here he makes us all equal and I beleive he wants us to think and act that way also. A commandment one that stanzas out and is moat important is love your neighbor as yourself. But there's not a lot of either one of those things going on. People are withwe so obsessed with themselves they can't love their neighbor or they are so focused on their neighbor they can't love themselves. I think this was almost foreshadowed in this sentence to what we are like and what god wants from us here today. Doesn't matter how much we make money is worshiped more than god and with this we all lose the beat thing in life.

vs 12, each one must pay a ransom for his life. vs 15, the cost is the same for everyone. Doesn't matter if you sinned 1000 times less than the person next to you, or if you are rich or poor, or if you are the highest leader or the low-man on the totem-pole, all are equal at the foot of the cross. The price is the same, the shed blood of Jesus.

So true Nancy. We're all equal at the cross if we have been washed by the blood.

I get very upset when I see people having favorites when it comes to people. Some have a favorite son/ daughter, niece/ nephew, grandchild etc. God has no favorites, we are all equal. God looks at what is in our heart.

God is not a respecter of person. The rich are not given special privileges nor the poor given a break; we are all equal in God's sight. He is not looking at the outer us or what we have or what we do, He is looking at the heart and it is through the heart that we can all be judged equally.

All were to be treated equal in the Lord's eyes - no one was to give more because he or she had more to give and no one was to give less because he or she had less to give. Each person was responsible for their own life and was to come up with a half shekel for the Lord to atone for themselves.

I think it's interesting that the rich gave more or less the same as a poor person. In the book of James, God instructs us through the half-brother of Jesus not to play favorites between the rich and the poor. James 2:9 says to show partiality is to commit sin. So I see how the LORD loves the rich and the poor equally.

I'm not really sure of the meaning of this. I thought all were equal? I know if the poor pay as much as the rich its fair, but should the rich be able to give more?
