Matthew 13:15
For this people's heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.'

So many times things happen in life that cause you to no longer hear what is important. You become so blind to reality that the beauty that that surrounds you is no longer visible. Life will throw you hurdles. We must stand strong and lean on God for the answers! When we close off our lives to God, our hearts will become hard and we will no longer be able to see or hear God in our lives. "Open the eyes of my heart oh God". I love that song! May it be our prayer today that God will truly open the eyes of our heart so that we will do His will, not ours. May he not allow our heart to become calloused; filled with things that should not be there. "Give me a pure heart."

I struggle when I read this. I know that the Old Testament is a book of rules but my heart goes out to the people of these days. How isolated they must have felt when they had medical problems. I am thankful that these rules do not apply to us today.

Leviticus 9:23
Moses and Aaron then went into the tent of meeting. When they came out, they blessed the people; and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people.

When I hear that the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people I envision what that must have felt like. I know they were not seeing the Lord in his physical form but it must have still be an amazing moment.

Leviticus 8:35
You must stay at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days and do what the Lord requires, so you will not die; for that is what I have been commanded."

There was quite a ritual when the priests were concentrated! Several sacrifices needed to be made. I find it interesting that the number 7 comes up several times in this passage. It is hard in this chapter to narrow down one specific verse because these are all instructions from the Lord. I believe I need to look closer at the meaning of each step of this process so I can better choose one specific verse. I chose the verse I did because I found it interesting that they had to stay at the entrance of the tent for 7 days. This intrigues me and I want to learn more about why.

I think the catholic church needs to adopt this teaching today. It certainly would get rid of the priests who shouldn't be in office who inapropriately touch young boys.

Leviticus 6:5
or whatever it was they swore falsely about. They must make restitution in full, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the owner on the day they present their guilt offering.

During biblical times, if you took from someone, you had to repay up to 5 times the amount of what you took. This is a valuable lesson. These days, you are lucky if you have to pay anything back. Punishment during our time period does not seem to have as much of an impact on the wrong doer as it did in biblical times.
