Matthew 13:15
For this people's heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.'
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.'

I pray that my heart never becomes calloused, that I alway hear and understand, that I see and perceive and that my heart does not become hardened. I also pray for this country, that the hearts of everyone will see with their eyes, hear with their ears and understand with their hearts.

We must be the salt of the earth so that people's eyes, ears, hearts can be opened to Christ's great spiritual healing!

In answering the disciples' question about why He spoke in parables, Jesus has, not only explained the meaning of the different parables, but He has also given us a reason why people do not understand. Hearts become calloused or hardened. This even happens to believers who neglect the Word and allow circumstances in their lives to distract them from seeking the Lord. Notice that seeing, hearing, and understanding results in turning (repentance) and then healing. Proverbs 1:23 exhorts us to "turn ye at my reproof; behold, I will pour out My spirit upon you and make My words known unto you."

So many times things happen in life that cause you to no longer hear what is important. You become so blind to reality that the beauty that that surrounds you is no longer visible. Life will throw you hurdles. We must stand strong and lean on God for the answers! When we close off our lives to God, our hearts will become hard and we will no longer be able to see or hear God in our lives. "Open the eyes of my heart oh God". I love that song! May it be our prayer today that God will truly open the eyes of our heart so that we will do His will, not ours. May he not allow our heart to become calloused; filled with things that should not be there. "Give me a pure heart."
