Leviticus 6:5
or whatever it was they swore falsely about. They must make restitution in full, add a fifth of the value to it and give it all to the owner on the day they present their guilt offering.

The law of restitution is really what repentance looks like. It's humbling ourselves and going to the person we have wronged, beginning with God and then to the people we sinned against and making all things right. It's not easy, but its fruit is a clean conscience and that is worth everything!

Today's society has definitely shifted away from this. It is hard enough to get people to realize they have done something wrong much less make it right and then adding extra. Today's society seems to be a society of entitlement and of not caring who or what gets hurt in the process as long as what they want is accomplished. There are so many that don't know God we must reach out and tell them through his sacrifice their sins are washed away. When we do wrong we must go above and beyond to make it right. A little extra kindness can go a long way especially with an apology.

i wish this was the law today, instead of just throwing them in jail. God knows how to discipline His people. Heb:12:6 The Lord disciplines those He loves. I have been disciplined by the Lord and i thank Him for it.

During biblical times, if you took from someone, you had to repay up to 5 times the amount of what you took. This is a valuable lesson. These days, you are lucky if you have to pay anything back. Punishment during our time period does not seem to have as much of an impact on the wrong doer as it did in biblical times.

That when we realize we have guilt, to atone and then add a fifth of the value and give it back to owner. Admittance of guilt , restitution . Makes a person think about restitution before they sin. Unfortunately many people don't, we act on our "feelings " a lot of the time, and many times we get in trouble.

Mirrored in the New Testament about what to do when one sins against you...takes your cloak? Give him your coat. Strikes your cheek? Turn and let him strike the other. Requires you to carry his burden one mile? Carry it two. The LAW requires that we make restitution in full PLUS for our sins against another. MERCY and GRACE requires us to forgive PLUS when WE are sinned against.
