Leviticus 19:2
"Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: 'Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy.

God is holy! How can God, who is perfectly holy have any dealings with sinners like us? The simple answer is GRACE! Jesus took care of our sin once and for all on the cross, which allows us to have a relationship with Him. Through the help of the Holy Spirit we can live lives that are pleasing to Him. Thank You, Jesus for loving us so much that You would be willing to die the death we deserved and give us the gift of everlasting life!

Key words in this verse and the whole chapter: "Be Holy because I, the Lord your God, am Holy. God is saying keep my commands, and all my laws(Ten Commandment) do not defile yourself with Idolatry and superstition. And as Christians we can apply what i stated here by separating our selves from the world, as the children of God we are to be Holy. 1 Peter 1:15-16 But just as He who called you is Holy, so be holy in all you do. for it is written: "Be Holy, because I am Holy"

People love to talk about God as being loving, compassionate, merciful, and He is but He is also holy. Because He is holy He is also righteous and just. Sinners cannot come into His presence. That's where Jesus comes into the picture. Jesus died the death we deserve to to take care of the problem of sin so we can enter into His presence. "Come into His presence with thanksgiving in your heart and give Him praise, and give Him praise."

Being Holy? Well my interpretation would be, to live as closely as possible to God commands. Live by the word and demonstrate God Love towards others. Sounds simple but it's not. We have our daily battle with the flesh. Constant prayer is the key. God bless you.

God's desire for us in these days (still) is to be holy ... to not sin ... to obey his commands and decrees. Thank you for your Holy Spirit who lives inside of us and guides us so that we can live like God wants us to if indeed we listen to Him and let Him lead us.

This verse is the essence of the whole chapter; the following verses define how we are to be holy. Most relate to our relationship with others and some relate to our good health. In the New Testament this verse is echoed in 1 Peter 1:16.

This shows that, even though Chris paid for our sins, we are still to lve a moral life- why? Alley because God is holy. Love hour neighbor, help others, follow the commandments- we strive to be like the Father, and, while we have no hope of obtainin that, He has shown us how to live- what a blessing. Praise be to God!
