We who know Jesus have the truth in us, and will have the truth always. That is very comforting to me to know that I have the truth, and can recognize the falsehood of the enemy.

1 John 1:1
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

If anyone wants proof that Jesus was a real man and is the Christ, this is the verse. John, along with James and Peter, were his close friends and can testify to the truth that Jesus is God.

1 Peter 3:9
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.

This is difficult to do; it takes fortitude on my part to be kind to someone who has been unkind to me. I think the key is patience and calmness, so that I don't strike out with harsh words.

So true Linda. It is difficult not to lash back but we see later on that it will cause them to basically feel guilt for having persecuted us, when all we did was act in righteousness. Our nature, at least mine, is to lash back with harsh words and as you say it is hard to not do that. Blessings.

1 Peter 2:12
Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Linda M. from Camp Verde, AZ said:
We are to live for Christ, obeying him in everything. He has made us holy by his own holiness attributed to us by his death and our faith in him.

James 3:17
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

What a lovely definition of wisdom! When I ask God for wisdom, I think more of decision-making, rather than this attitude or way of thinking or acting toward others.

Hebrews 10:14
For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

This verse gives me assurance that God has taken away my sin and He is working on me to be holy. To me it seems like a slow process, but as I stay in His word, He draws me into His perfect will. My job is to be obedient to Him.

Linda, I hope you won't be offended by what I feel the need to share, but that you will give it prayerful thought and search these things out with the Lord in His Word. It helped me so much when God finally got it through to me that I am holy, because He is holy. It has nothing to do with what I do or don't do, but only because, as it is written, "... if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches." Jesus is the firstfruit, we are the lump. He is the root, we are the branches (Romans 10: 16). God also tells us that we are in Christ Jesus, clothed in Him, as it is written in 1Corinthians 1: 30; Galatians 3: 27; Acts 17: 28; Colossians 3:3; Isaiah 61: 10 and so many more scriptures that testify we are in Chirst, He is our righteousness, our wisdom, our sanctification, our redemption. (1Cor. 1: 30). Keep in mind Proverbs 23: 7 'as a man thinks in his heart, so is he:...' Just like we have heard about children who are continually told they are stupid, or lazy, or ugly, whatever, after awhile they tend to believe it and they end up not caring and not trying, That's why I feel it is so important for Christians to be encouraged to believe they are holy as soon as they become born into the family of God, because He is holy. And the more we think of ourselves in this light, the more His holiness will begin to shine through. Not giving us cause to have a holier than thou attitude, because it will be from God, of God. The humility and holiness of our Lord Jesus Christ is ours through our inheritance. We are joint-heirs with Him (Romans 8: 16, 17). "Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:..."(1John 3:1). Don't get discouraged, but let God do His perfect work in and through you, Linda. When it seems like it's taking a long time for you to see any real changes, just praise Him anyhow, and continue to stand in faith. Remember, He is the Potter, we are the clay and we really shouldn't criticize the Master's work :) It is important to prayerfully read His Word, asking and trusting the Holy Spirit to teach us and guide us into all truth, just as He says He will do in John 14: 26; 16: 13-15; 1John 2: 27. God bless you and yours, Linda

Vivian, You are very kind to respond - thank you. You're right - we who are in Christ are holy because of what Jesus has done for us, and continues with the Father, and the Holy Spirit is His guarantee in us that we are His. That fact is comforting and reassuring, and I can rest easy, without worry. I think obedience is still necessary to carry out God's will - "Through Him God gave me the privilege of being an apostle for the sake of Christ, in order to lead people of all nations to believe and obey. This also includes you who are in Rome, whom God has called to belong to Jesus Christ." Romans 1:5-6. Your comments are very welcome, and I appreciate your taking the time to respond to me.
