Exodus 30:10
Once a year Aaron shall make atonement on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering for the generations to come. It is most holy to the Lord."

The Day of Atonement was done once a year as a sin offering for the people which was only temporary. Jesus Christ is the perfect atonement that was to come who could remove our sins forever.

What Aaron did for us when he made atonement on its horns every year, he did for generations - meaning us - and it was most holy to the Lord.

This verse shows just how important it was for the Israelites to make their atonement every year as an act of worship. The absolute gravity of this command from God was carried down through the generations and anytime the Israelites took their eyes off of the importance of their worship of God He disciplined them and tried to show them just how much He loved them and was merciful. However, the fall brought with it the curse of mankind and we loved evil more than the holiness and communion of God. EVERY action and thought of men is inherently EVIL. It is only because of the mercy of our Savior and God that we even have the opportunity to be brought into fellowship with God THROUGH Jesus Christ. God has proven Himself time and again but the Church today, specifically the American Church has abadoned fellowship with the Lord and sought after the lusts of other things. The American Church has played the Harlot and burdened itself with every kind of wickedness. We have become like the Israelites in the desert, who forgot everything the Lord had brought them through and began putting their trust in things that were downright wicked. The Church in America MUST wake up to the fact that we have played the harlot long enough. We HAVE TO TURN TO GOD AND STOP PUTTING ON OUR MASKS OF DECEIT. WE HAVE TO TURN FROM EVIL AND FIND OUR PLACE AND PEACE IN THE LORD ALMIGHTY.
Sincerely, Theophilus

Aaron was to make atonement for the people every year as a sin offering for generations to come. In our day and time "Atonement" mean to consecrate ourselves one on one with Almighty God. Jesus made a covenant with us through the shedding of his blood on calvary. When we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior we were redeemed and sanctified. Atonement is a High Holy Day and we must come to God in spirit and truth, fasting, praising and praying on that day. Praise God and remember Jesus is Lord. Amen!

I have never understood the need for a 'blood' sacrifice...why did the Lord set it up this way? why blood?
I am grateful that Christ is the ultimate sacrifice for us.

This is a foreshadowing of the atonement of Jesus. Aaron made atonement for all the Isralites once a year - every year - But Jesus made atonement for all the world once and it was finished. There is no need to sacrafice once a year for sin - Jesus has completed the work and we are reconciled to
God forever through the blood sacrafice and reseruction of our Lord Jesus.

This is a foreshadow of things to come: Namely the finished work of Jesus Christ. "and without shedding of blood, is no remission" [Heb 9:22]
