Esther 4:16
"Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish."

Esther was a brave individual, who obviously trusted the Lord. However, we must remember that this was no doubt the plan of the Lord to save His people, and the plan of thee Lord will not fail.

Lloyd it's amazing how chapters might have two different verses to choose from and come away with the same train of thought, just takes a few key words to come to the same conclusion. Continue to be Blest by God's word.

The fate of Gods people did not rest in Esther's hands. Her fate however did rest in her faithfulness to God. God often puts us in circumstances where we must do before we see his plan come about. I often have to check myself and see if I am ignoring something God has put in front of me. We always wish ourselves out if hard circumstances instead of looking to see if we need to take action. God urges us to move to accomplish his plan we just have to take the time to listen and have the courage to take action.

Esther was a brave woman, willing to risk her life for the sake of the Jewish people but was also wise in directing the people to fast and pray, so that God would grant her favor with the king. This is what the body of Christ needs to do today, so that our Lord will hear our requests to save our families, friends, neighbors and our nations, that have for the most part turned their backs on God.

With God's people joined together in prayer Esther began to prepare for her meeting with the king. Here we see only one side of the picture. We're only told was was happening in Susa. In Heaven not only was God hearing their prayers but He has already been at work to deliver them. Nothing catches Him off guard. Esther is willing to risk her own life to save her people. God will soften the heart of the king for Esther because He cares for His people. How often do we get overwhelmed because of the difficulties we are facing and forget that in Heaven no one is panicking. God is on His throne and He can be trusted.

Esther says go and fast for me, I will be breaking a law, and if I die, I die. Now, that is faith, that is believing in a God that is higher than man's laws and rules, and that is fulfilling a purpose and following God's plan for her. God, help me to be more like Esther in staying true to You and obeying Your will for my life and to not be afraid of man's consequences while living a life that is pleasing to You.

Esther was willing to seek the Lord and then risk her life to go before the king to attempt to save her people. How many today would be willing to risk their lives for the sake of other people. Esther was by the previous report, very beautiful but also obviously not proud, so that she was willing to risk death by coming before the king without invitation. In my estimation, God had preordained for Esther to take this risk because He would protect her, yet she still had to be willing to risk her life. That's a quality individual. Lord, inspire me to be as dedicated to Your service as Esther was. Amen

I believe you're right, Wanda. She obviously was committed to the Lord or she would not have thought of fasting in the first place and as she knew the dangers of coming before the king without invitation. God bless.

Agreed, Allan. That to me is the reason for fasting is to spend time seeking the Lord.
