Somehow this just seems a little strange. Jesus just told the disciples about his upcoming crucifixion. The very next thing we hear is the mother of James and John asking for a place of honor for her sons. It seems like James and John must not have seen the seriousness of what Jesus would go through. It makes me wonder, "How can I better appreciate what Jesus has done for me?"

There is great reward in following Jesus, but as for entering the Kingdom, this is only possible by placing our complete trust in his grace. Even our best efforts fall short of God's perfect standard. Jesus saves, and he rewards believers who faithfully follow him.
