Matt 25:1-13“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.
“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
The five virgins who have the extra oil represent those of us who have accepted the free gift of eternal life, admitted they're a sinner and can't save themselves, accepted Jesus sacrificial death on the cross as payment for their sins and are born again, and eagerly looking forward to His return. They have saving faith and have determined that, no matter what, be it a long time or adverse circumstances, when Jesus returns, they will be earnestly looking for Him.
The five virgins without the oil represent false believers, a lot of them regular church goers, who enjoy the benefits of the Christian community without a true love for Christ. They're more concerned about the party than about longing to see their bridegroom. Their hope is that by associating with true believers (“give us some of your oil” of verse 8) they'll get into the kingdom at the end.
One person’s faith in Jesus cannot save another. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than hanging out in a garage will make you a car.
We will each stand alone before God's throne and answer the big question God will ask: why should I let you into my heaven. A lot of people will say what Jesus predicted they'd say in Matt 7: 22-23, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
2 Peter 3:9 says The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.
Heb 9:17 says it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment,
It's a scientific fact, 10 outa 10 people die. None of us are getting outa here alive. Everyone is gonna live forever. The question is where will you spend eternity?
A lot of people say, "a loving God wouldn't send someone to hell", and that's right, He doesn't.
According to Matt 25:41 God didn't create hell for people, Jesus said that hell was “prepared” for Satan and his followers, the demons. Considering all the Havoc he and his minions have caused on this earth, it's a just punishment for them. Bob Dylan said it best in his song "no matter who you are, you gotta serve somebody, it may be the devil or may be the Lord". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8sI5WekW78&sns=em
According to 2 Peter 2:4–9, Hell, or the lake of fire, will also be the destination for those who reject Christ.
The good news is that NOBODY had to go to hell. God, in His infinite mercy and love, has made a way of salvation for everyone who trusts in God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
The Bible says in John 1, "in the beginning was The Word and The Word was with God and The Word WAS God, and The Word became flesh and came to dwell among us full of grace and truth ". The word, "Word" There is Jesus so what it's saying is, "in the beginning was Jesus, Jesus was with God and Jesus WAS God, and Jesus became flesh and came to dwell among us, full of grace and truth". Jesus was up in heaven, where it's perfect, no sin, no sorrow, no tears, no one pulling out in front of you in traffic. What He did, was, He came down here, zipped up a human suit, was born of a Virgin, lived a sinless life, died a horrible death on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, was buried and 3 days later, rose from the dead to purchase a place for us in heaven. Now, if God did all that for you, and you choose not to accept all that, you aren't following or serving Jesus who, according to the Scripture I just quoted, IS God, you're serving and following Satan, and you'll go to the place God had prepared for Satan and his followers. God doesn't send you to hell, you send yourself there, by your own choice.
John 3:16 says, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Vs
36 says He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. That doesn't mean that God is mad at you, He's madly in love with you and doesn't wanna spend eternity without you. He did all He's gonna do to make provision for you to spend eternity with Him.
If you live your life here and never accept His provision for you, He's not sending you to hell, you'll just be going to the place He's prepared for those who don't receive his free gift and by default, chose to follow Satan into his ultimate destination.
If you've been attending church, you may even be a member, but you aren't 100% sure, beyond a shadow of a doubt that you're going to heaven when you die and wanna know how you can know for sure, let me know. I'll tell you how I came to know I'm gonna spend forever with God in heaven, and you can too.
Papa God, please open the eyes and ears of the ones blinded by the god of this world that they may come to a personal relationship with You, and spend eternity with You, in Jesus name, Amen.
