Acts 27:25
So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.
Matt W.
Matt W. from ON said:
God doesnt tell us everything that will happen to us... but what He does tell us, in His word and sometimes about certain circumstances with dreams/visions etc, He tells the truth about. His word is trustworthy. Believe in it... know that He will do what He says. He is trustworthy! Thank you Father for being someone we can trust.... let that trust in You build.

Acts 13:39
Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.
Matt W.
Matt W. from ON said:
By trying to follow all the laws set in place in the time of Moses we are still not justified, because none of us can fulfill them all. Thank you Lord that we can be justified by faith and belief in You.

But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.

Matt W.
Matt W. from ON said:
Despite opposition, imprisonment and executions, God works to further His kingdom spreading the message of salvation... so no matter how bad it seems to get, His will still gets done. He's awesome!

Acts 11:29
The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea.
Matt W.
Matt W. from ON said:
Right at the start the believers acted as a family, not just with their fellow believers in their local community but on a more global scale. They helped each other out as 'they were able'. To me this says we should be helping our brothers and sisters across the world, and not just focus on our local community.

Acts 9:17
Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit."
Matt W.
Matt W. from ON said:
The trust Ananias must have had in Jesus, to go to the house of the man sent to imprison or kill you... even though the order to go there must have sounded crazy he still did it, and what an amazing outcome, his enemy Saul becoming a fellow believer. Just one more reason we should trust Him when He is prompting us to do or say something for someone...

We have to constantly be reminded of this truth and be strengthened by the Lord through the Spirit to have a Supernatural boldness and confidence to share the gospel...as we will quickly recoil and not take the opportunities God gives us everyday to share His word...(as we do not "yet" have to fear physical persecution) Because fear of man produces a snare...and we know that the gospel is foolishness to them who are perishing and who need life that only comes from knowing Jesus Christ...and somehow we lose the courage to fulfill the great commission which is our purpose for existing...to give the gospel to every creature...Come on church, we have a job to do and the enemy is winning ground!!! My prayer is that the Lord gives us this same boldness and confidence in Him to do what seems impossible as we trust Him for the outcome....

Matt W. from ON said:
I agree with you Marilyn... we, or at least a lot of Christians including myself, have just grown complacent and comfortable in our life and dont step out of that comfort zone to share with others. I pray the same as yourself. May we just put our trust in Him and have the courage to share with those we meet. Holy Spirit, please guide our words and actions.

Amen, Matt. We need to ask God for the spiritual boldness to step outside that comfort zone we all have, and to not be worried about what others might think but about what God might think if we don't. God bless, Matt and Marilyn.

I agree with all of you. As the church is asleep at the wheel, the evil is continuing to ramp up. Papa God, please wake up your church, in Jesus name.

Acts 7:55
But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
Matt W.
Matt W. from ON said:
That would have been an awesome sight to see... Just to see the glory of God and Jesus would have been so overwhelming, comforting, and reassuring. He was no longer the humble carpenter from Galilee, but the Prince of Glory. And Jesus was standing, not seated at the right hand of God. I wonder what the meaning of that would be?

Good catch about Jesus standing instead of sitting. I have one reference book that says this indicates He was greatly concerned, that He was getting a "closer look."

Bruno V. from Vallejo, CA said:
Hi Matt. Looks like a few folks caught that Jesus was standing, and it's fun to get different views. Henry said it may be a state of concern. My research shows that Jesus was welcoming the first Martyr home with honor. Since Jesus knew he was the first to die for what he believed (and for what he just did), "standing" would be appropriate even for Jesus. I can accept that. ( :

Acts 6:2
So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.
Matt W.
Matt W. from ON said:
This reinforces that we don't all perform the same roll in the body of Christ. Lord, please reveal to us the roll you would have us fill that we might be useful in expanding Your kingdom and ministering to each other.

Hi Matt. You know, we were going through this verse in bible study and one thing I learned: EVERYONE stacks chairs (i.e. serves tables) before a promotion. Good example is Stephen - on of the greatest Bible heros, full of the Holy Spirit and our first Martyr. Yet, before he became an Apostle, he was "serving tables". I will pray for your role. ( :

Unless we are willing to serve we will never know what it is that God is calling us to do...When we are willing to step out of our comfort zone and surrender our lives for God to use us than we will do things that we never thought we could do by the grace of God to be an encouragement and blessing to others and to expand the kingdom of God for His glory!

I understand that we all must be servants, I just found it interesting that there are people who are called to focus on other things as well (ie:evangelism etc). Thank you for your advice and prayers... I'm not sure exactly what I am being called to do yet, but I do want to be an open and willing vessel for Him.

Acts 5:41
The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.
Matt W.
Matt W. from ON said:
This is a real testament to the love and dedication the apostles have for Jesus... to be flogged and then rejoice. I pray that I will be as fearless as these men, to share about Jesus and not be concerned about the repercussions.

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Matt W.
