1 Samuel 2:6
"The Lord brings death and makes alive;
he brings down to the grave and raises up.

What a great promise for God's children, and an insight into what the future will bring to the nation of Israel, in the form of Jesus Christ and His ability to bring the dead to life through resurrection. But, like what many of us do, I am sure the Israelites did not take this passage with a grain of salt and went along their merry ways, not truly understanding what the Lord meant by this passage.

Judges 20:28
with Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, ministering before it.) They asked, "Shall we go up again to fight against the Benjamites, our fellow Israelites, or not?"

The Lord responded, "Go, for tomorrow I will give them into your hands."

Even in the midst of calamity, the Israelites remembered to turn to God for help and assistance. Because they asked for help, God was willing to back them up. God never leaves us when we face our battles, even when we feel as if the other side will win no matter what. When we turn to God, we have the most powerful weapon on our side forever -- God.

Judges 19:24
Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But as for this man, don't do such an outrageous thing."

Elizabeth D. from Frisco City, AL said:
As a mother and a woman, I cannot imagine how a father could give his daughter up to be raped and abused by men, just to keep a guest from being abused. Wasn't the concubine, though a slave/servant in many eyes, a guest also? I know times have changed, especially in the Western parts of the globe; but, there are still parts of the world where certain practices are still being done. We must pray for those people, that they will learn that love is universal, not just for a select few.

This is a difficult chapter to swallow, Elizabeth. Shows how wicked humanity can be. Blessings, sister.

Judges 18:6
The priest answered them, "Go in peace. Your journey has the Lord 's approval."

Elizabeth D.
Elizabeth D. from Frisco City, AL said:
What most people don't realize, myself included, is that our journeys are approved by God. What may seem painful and tedious at the moment may turn into the most rewarding for ourselves and for God in the end. With this knowledge, peace should wash over us, and the burden of fear should be lifted from our shoulders.

Judges 17:2
said to his mother, "The eleven hundred shekels of silver that were taken from you and about which I heard you utter a curse—I have that silver with me; I took it."

Then his mother said, "The Lord bless you, my son!"

Elizabeth D.
Elizabeth D. from Frisco City, AL said:
Even after her son took her money from her, an amount that seems a lot still, the mother forgave and blessed him in the name of the Lord. There are many things that people do to us that may seem unforgivable; but with the grace of God, we are able to forgive those transgressions with peace. With this forgiveness, maybe those ones who are forgiven will come to realize the wonderful joys found in a life filled with God.

Judges 16:30
Samson said, "Let me die with the Philistines!" Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.

Elizabeth D.
Elizabeth D. from Frisco City, AL said:
Samson was willing to die for the Lord in order to prove to the enemy that the Lord is more powerful than anything in the world, even their so-called "gods." We must be willing to die for Christ, because we never know if our sacrifice will bring the hardest hearts to the Lord.

So true Elizabeth. If we stand firm in the Lord, our death may be a great witness to others. God bless.
