Judges 19:24
Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But as for this man, don't do such an outrageous thing."

This is a difficult chapter, but a sad chapter that a father would offer his daughter before putting a stranger in harm's way. This is a great example of misogynistic culture and mistreatment of women in this particular time period.

No doubt about that, being a misogynistic culture, Peter. A rather mind boggling chapter as well. Blessings Peter. I pray the Lord would settle this yo-yo weather out soon Peter. So many people sick with colds and such around here including my wife and myself, as we are just getting over colds, and many of our church family, as well as my daughter's entire family too. :-) PS: watch a Sid Roth hour and a half prophetic special this evening which is supposed to be repeated tomorrow at 2:00 pm. WOW.

as a parent I can not imagine offering up my daughter or any person and saying do what you wish. How God's heart must have broke upon hearing this. My heart breaks just reading this chapter.

When people live any way they seem fit this is the sad consequence of this lifestyle. I get the idea that this man was trying to protect his guest but to offer these wicked men his own daughter and the Levite's wife is inexcusable. This is an extremely difficult chapter to read but it shows how wicked human beings can be. We are all sinners in need of God's grace. Thankfully God took care of our sin problem on the cross of Calvary!

Amen, Terry. I find it hard to imagine how this Levite, or the old man who housed them would allow such an end to take place. I expect the judgment of God would have fallen upon both of them. Especially when the Levite went to get his concublne to come back to him and then treated her as he did. Wound not want to be in his place when he faced the Lord. God bless, Terry

As a mother and a woman, I cannot imagine how a father could give his daughter up to be raped and abused by men, just to keep a guest from being abused. Wasn't the concubine, though a slave/servant in many eyes, a guest also? I know times have changed, especially in the Western parts of the globe; but, there are still parts of the world where certain practices are still being done. We must pray for those people, that they will learn that love is universal, not just for a select few.

This is a difficult chapter to swallow, Elizabeth. Shows how wicked humanity can be. Blessings, sister.
