Judges 19:24
Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But as for this man, don't do such an outrageous thing."

This is a difficult chapter, but a sad chapter that a father would offer his daughter before putting a stranger in harm's way. This is a great example of misogynistic culture and mistreatment of women in this particular time period.

as a parent I can not imagine offering up my daughter or any person and saying do what you wish. How God's heart must have broke upon hearing this. My heart breaks just reading this chapter.

When people live any way they seem fit this is the sad consequence of this lifestyle. I get the idea that this man was trying to protect his guest but to offer these wicked men his own daughter and the Levite's wife is inexcusable. This is an extremely difficult chapter to read but it shows how wicked human beings can be. We are all sinners in need of God's grace. Thankfully God took care of our sin problem on the cross of Calvary!

As a mother and a woman, I cannot imagine how a father could give his daughter up to be raped and abused by men, just to keep a guest from being abused. Wasn't the concubine, though a slave/servant in many eyes, a guest also? I know times have changed, especially in the Western parts of the globe; but, there are still parts of the world where certain practices are still being done. We must pray for those people, that they will learn that love is universal, not just for a select few.
