1 Kings 15:11
Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done.

Yes, David was a man after God's own heart. (1 Samuel 13:14) We see in verse 5 David had lived his life pursuing God and to please God. We find that David was human for he did sin and after that sin his life was never the same. He sought God's forgiveness and continue to seek God's guidance in his life. Now we see Asa chose to live for God as his father David had done. We find that Asa was King of Judah and reigned in Jerusalem for forty-one years in verse 9. Lesson learned is when we do what is right in the eyes of the Lord, He will bless and look after us! God's Blessings!

1 Kings 14:5
But the Lord had told Ahijah, "Jeroboam's wife is coming to ask you about her son, for he is ill, and you are to give her such and such an answer. When she arrives, she will pretend to be someone else."

Today when we live our lives for God, He will direct our way and show us understanding through the Holy Spirit. This can only be when we spend time each day in the Scripture, pray for God's direction and understanding continually, and be the witness He has command us to be. We see that Ahijah had this kind of relationship with God and we can too!

1 Kings 13:6
Then the king said to the man of God, "Intercede with the Lord your God and pray for me that my hand may be restored." So the man of God interceded with the Lord, and the king's hand was restored and became as it was before.

This shows the mercy of God. The king knew what had happened just before asking the man of God to pray for him and heal his hand. We later find that it did not change the heart of the king. We must be obedient to God and He will continue to bless us.
