Psalms 120:1
I call on the Lord in my distress,
and he answers me.
and he answers me.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
This is so true. I stubbornly refuse to call on Him when I make my own messes but when I do, He hears me and forgives me my stupidity lol... but whether it is my mess or just life He hears me!

Psalms 119:175
Let me live that I may praise you,
and may your laws sustain me.
and may your laws sustain me.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
This is a long chapter and I'd rather see it broken up into bits on here so that it can be covered "mo' bettah..." But I do know it as the "law chapter." It is wonderful. I do love how it says in this verse that the law will sustain me. It's true! Lord help me to be more obedient to Your word and even more obedient to READ Your word!

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
his love endures forever.

The whole psalm is wonderful but it is good for me to be reminded that He loves me and will love me forever!

Psalms 117:2
For great is his love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord.
and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord.

The KJV reads, "For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD." I think it is good news that His truth endures forever! Otherwise we would be a hopeless and lost people. Praise ye the LORD!

Psalms 114:7
Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,

I have to admit I had to look up in a commentary to see what this psalm meant. As a whole it did appear that it acknowledge the power of the Lord - but there were specifics to which it referred: "In this psalm it is celebrated in lively strains of praise; it was fitly therefore made a part of the great Hallelujah, or song of praise, which the Jews were wont to sing at the close of the passover-supper. It must never be forgotten, I. That they were brought out of slavery (v. 1). II. That God set up his tabernacle among them (v. 2). III. That the sea and Jordan were divided before them (v. 3, v. 5). IV. That the earth shook at the giving of the law, when God came down on Mount Sinai (v. 4, v. 6, v. 7). V. That God gave them water out of the rock (v. 8). In singing this psalm we must acknowledge God’s power and goodness in what he did for Israel, applying it to the much greater work of wonder, our redemption by Christ, and encouraging ourselves and others to trust in God in the greatest straits..." (Matthew Henry complete). I think we do not acknowledge how powerful God is - as in fearing the Lord and as in how He can and does answer prayer! We should not be surprised when He performs miracles! But definitely thankful and full of praise!

Psalms 113:3
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised . Interesting how the version above seems to indicate a "place" we are to praise the Lord, as well as a time frame. What I like about this verse is it doesn't say "if all seems to be going smoothly," or, "If you remember ..." or, "once or twice a day." It is always and in all things and all day and night. What a wonderful frame of mind ... Lord help us to be thankful and to praise Your name every hour, every minute, every day.

Psalms 112:8
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
One of my greatest struggles is fear (ref: the "foe" in this verse).. The closer I am to the Lord, the more I read His word and obey, the less afraid I am to be out in the world, and the more I can obey Him and be close to Him lol... it all connects, I can't have the one without the other.
