I call on the Lord in my distress,
and he answers me.
Kathleen B.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
This is so true. I stubbornly refuse to call on Him when I make my own messes but when I do, He hears me and forgives me my stupidity lol... but whether it is my mess or just life He hears me!

Psalms 119:175
Let me live that I may praise you,
and may your laws sustain me.
Kathleen B.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
This is a long chapter and I'd rather see it broken up into bits on here so that it can be covered "mo' bettah..." But I do know it as the "law chapter." It is wonderful. I do love how it says in this verse that the law will sustain me. It's true! Lord help me to be more obedient to Your word and even more obedient to READ Your word!

Kathleen, I was feeling the same way ally breaking it up, especially when the Psalms we read for the last few days have been so brief.

Sorry if I gave you that impression, Kathleen. No, God loves us all the time but so often churches are preaching on the love of God that they leave the impression that we can do whatever we want and there's no consequences so long as we've received Christ into our lives. Christ shows that it will not be enough to receive Him for our Master, only in professing Him as Savior. It is necessary to our happiness that we believe in Christ, that we repent of sin, that we live a holy life, that we love one another. It is His will, that we be sanctified. I refer to Matthew 7:21-23 Kathleen, where Jesus tells that just because some did miracles and such, does not mean they are right before Him, because their hearts were not right. Judas traveled as one of the twelve, performing miracles and such, yet he is in hell for betraying Jesus. Hope that clarifies what I was saying, Kathleen. Sorry if I misled you. God bless.

Donna N. from Orlando, FL said:
That's right, Lloyd, there's a LOT of people who walk the Isle, say a prayer, accepting Jesus as savior friend but forget that it also includes receiving Him as Lord, repenting and stop trusting in our own works and trusting in Jesus Christ ALONE for our eternal life.

Of course as Rom 8 puts it, nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death, life, angels, demons, our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love.

thanks Lloyd, I probably had a knee-jerk reaction when I thought what you said was what I wrote lol... so it is not necessarily that you mis-led. I agree w/ what you are saying. I first got saved in 2000 accepting Jesus as my Savior, but I did not realize that meant He was my Lord as well. Does that mean I was not saved then? Not sure but thank God He led me to a different church in 2005 that DID teach from the Word and DOES teach that Jesus is LORD of my life! I am so thankful that God led me there and that He uses me for the work of the Kingdom :) Sure am not wholly a grown up but I pray that He will continue to change my heart!

Sounds to me that you have a right heart, Kathleen, and am glad you are one of my sisters. I'll tell you, there are none of us that are fully grown up yet and never will be fully, until we meet the King of kings. There's always something we can improve on but He always stirs us to learn more and His patience is far better than mine, one of my weaknesses. God bless.

Kathleen, I know what you mean, I did the same thing. But you sincerely gave God your heart and look what he did with it. He led you where He need you to be. It's about salvation and sanctification. Our works didn't GET us saved and they don't KEEP us saved. If you're REALLY saved, and you stiffen your neck and harden your heart, God will turn you over to the devil that your flesh will suffer so your spirit can be saved. The whole first letter to the Corinthians is written to a bunch of "carnal Christians". This link is to where Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills took over 2 years to cover the book of 1 Cor verse by verse. It sealed the deal for me. http://calvarycch.org/media_center.php this guy is an AWESOME teacher, he's not pc at all no sugar coating

Psalms 117:2
For great is his love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.

Praise the Lord.

Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
The KJV reads, "For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD." I think it is good news that His truth endures forever! Otherwise we would be a hopeless and lost people. Praise ye the LORD!

Psalms 114:7
Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the God of Jacob,
Kathleen B.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
I have to admit I had to look up in a commentary to see what this psalm meant. As a whole it did appear that it acknowledge the power of the Lord - but there were specifics to which it referred: "In this psalm it is celebrated in lively strains of praise; it was fitly therefore made a part of the great Hallelujah, or song of praise, which the Jews were wont to sing at the close of the passover-supper. It must never be forgotten, I. That they were brought out of slavery (v. 1). II. That God set up his tabernacle among them (v. 2). III. That the sea and Jordan were divided before them (v. 3, v. 5). IV. That the earth shook at the giving of the law, when God came down on Mount Sinai (v. 4, v. 6, v. 7). V. That God gave them water out of the rock (v. 8). In singing this psalm we must acknowledge God’s power and goodness in what he did for Israel, applying it to the much greater work of wonder, our redemption by Christ, and encouraging ourselves and others to trust in God in the greatest straits..." (Matthew Henry complete). I think we do not acknowledge how powerful God is - as in fearing the Lord and as in how He can and does answer prayer! We should not be surprised when He performs miracles! But definitely thankful and full of praise!

Psalms 113:3
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
Kathleen B.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised . Interesting how the version above seems to indicate a "place" we are to praise the Lord, as well as a time frame. What I like about this verse is it doesn't say "if all seems to be going smoothly," or, "If you remember ..." or, "once or twice a day." It is always and in all things and all day and night. What a wonderful frame of mind ... Lord help us to be thankful and to praise Your name every hour, every minute, every day.

Psalms 112:8
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear;
in the end they will look in triumph on their foes.
Kathleen B.
Kathleen B. from Middleburg, FL said:
One of my greatest struggles is fear (ref: the "foe" in this verse).. The closer I am to the Lord, the more I read His word and obey, the less afraid I am to be out in the world, and the more I can obey Him and be close to Him lol... it all connects, I can't have the one without the other.
Lloyd S.
Lloyd S. from Trenton, ON said:
Lord, I ask You to break off that spirit of fear and give Kathleen a fresh and daily assurance of Your love and confidence in her, that she may live a life full of Your confidence and not fear. (False Evidence Appearing Real) Amen.
