Sometime I wish the Lord would give me such explicit, detailed instructions concerning tasks He has chosen for me. Maybe He does and I just have to many distractions to hear Him clearly. Perhaps the age of grace ushered in a new precedent now that the Holy Spirit indwells each believer.

It must have been breathtaking and awe-inspiring. Every thought focused on completing the dwelling place of God. I think all involved felt responsibility, accountability, honor, and joy to have been chosen for such a task. With such an ornate and beautiful earthly temple- imagine the heavenly dwellings.

How exciting it must have been. The best were creating and crafting out of the best for the best. What a great honor and privilege to serve the Lord in this manner. This chapter inspires me to anticipate and long for the beauty and majesty awaiting us at the end of this journey. All of our senses will be inundated. The intricate details given to these craftsmen demonstrate how explicit God can be in His instructions to us.

It is important for each of us to recognize where our skills, gifts, abilities, and strength comes from. We should thank and praise God for the talents he has blessed us with. And then again, we come back to being willing and offer those talents as a thanks offering to our Lord. He blesses us with gifts and we bless Him with our praise. Our obedience brings us into a closer relationship with Him. It is noteworthy that the talented recognized God speaking through Moses and obeyed that authority.

Being "willing" is the key word that is emphasized in this reading. This chapter mentions being willing to use our gifts for God's purpose in not only our lives but for the greater good as well. Our will is strong, stubborn, and often concerned with it's own agenda rather than God's plan. Being willing to listen to God is the first step in serving Him according to His purpose for our lives and for all of humanity.

It is so challenging to keep God first all the time. It is easiest for me first thing in the morning and gets tougher as the day goes on and the world and flesh compete for my attention. The mind, will, and emotions become less sensitive to the spirit as physical fatigue and routine set in.
