Our Lord God is the only true God to be worshipped. What is an idol ? Anything that comes into ones life in place of God. As born again believers, we are to makes sure by Faith that our lives are clean and that we be careful what we place first in our lives. Be it sport or fishing or movies or television or anything that takes the place of God. As Paul teaches us in Chapter 12 of Romans " be not conformed to this world:"

This is very important to understand. Idols are not just carved images - anyting you put your mind on can be an idol - a job, a ballgame, a particular team, a person - any time you are not Christ minded but are focused on the carnal - you are making an idol. Keep your mind and your eyes and your heart on Jesus always.

This is what is wrong with so many of us believers today, we have to many idols that come between us and God. Television, the internet, money, sports, big homes, our affluent lifestyle has become our God.

It is so challenging to keep God first all the time. It is easiest for me first thing in the morning and gets tougher as the day goes on and the world and flesh compete for my attention. The mind, will, and emotions become less sensitive to the spirit as physical fatigue and routine set in.

God bless you all. I understand that when the Lord God said Do not make any idols I understand that He did not mean idols that are made only from men's hands, but I believe He included all things and people in general. We should remember that we can not make any of our friends or family members idols in our lives putting them in first place. If we are calling ourselves believers of Christ as well as followers then we must remember that He has to be first place in our daily living. We should reflect on ourselves and make sure that He is and if He is not then let us ask Him what it is we need to do to get Him in first place. Let's make sure we do not have any idols because they could interfere with our salvation.
