To me, this is a preview of the forthcoming Savior, Jesus Christ, as God throughout the Old Testament paints a vivid picture, numerous times, of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, who washes clean and gives a new garment of righteousness through His shed blood, death and resurrection. Thank You, Lord, for showing us continually throughout Scripture, of Your provision of salvation through Jesus Your Son. Amen

Zechariah 3:4 – We too were clothed in filthy rags of our own righteousness. Isaiah says, “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.” (Isaiah 64:6) - - When the people looked at Joshua, they saw him in his lavishing significant priestly garments. This is the way we see people that are always serving the Lord and ministering to people. However, none of us is perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect. Jesus said, “For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:20) Compared to a Holy God, the best of us are filthy rotten sinners. Therefore, we too need a garment exchange. In The Parable of the Wedding Banquet Jesus said, “Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find. So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend? The man was speechless. Then the king told the attendants, Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are invited, but few are chosen.” (Matthew 22) - {How do you become chosen?} It is God’s will that none perish but all come to repentance. God calls everyone but not everyone will come, only those that see themselves as sinners and know they need a savior. They must confess with mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead and they too will be saved.). God will either see you clothed in your righteousness (filthy rags) or in Christ’s righteousness, (Holy blameless without reproach).“for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” (Galatians 3:27). When we come to Jesus we are made pure and righteous before God. It is our duty to keep ourselves clean and walk in righteousness as best we can, turning form our sins, even though we will slip up and sin, which is our nature. However, "1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
