Numbers 9:22
Whether the cloud stayed over the tabernacle for two days or a month or a year, the Israelites would remain in camp and not set out; but when it lifted, they would set out.

Once again, this shows that the Israelites were following the instructions of the Lord, and they were following Him only as He moved. Oh that all of the church (body of Christ) today would do likewise, for He should be our guide. Psa 31:3  For You are my rock and my fortress; and for Your name's sake lead me and guide me.

Amen Lloyd when God says move, its time to move. Church its time to awake, time to be the Church in the world that God wants us to be, bringing people to Christ. Be Blest and Strengthened in the word of God.

I think the key word here is the Cloud and who it represents. They had to follow the cloud, when the cloud stopped they camped and when the cloud lifted they set out, they followed/guided by the cloud. As Christians we focus on Jesus, for Jesus said I am the Way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6. And the as the Cloud of the Old Testament Guided the Israelites, as Christians we are Guided by The Holy Spirit of The New Testament.

Once again, same verse Peter. Even if you didn't proof read, your point was clear and we both had basically the same train of thought, that He is to be our lead/guide. Blessings for the Lord's day, brother Peter. :-)

Numbers 9:22-23  Or whether it was two days, or a month, or a year, that the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, remaining thereon, the children of Israel abode in their tents, and journeyed not: but when it was taken up, they journeyed. 23  At the commandment of the LORD they rested in the tents, and at the commandment of the LORD they journeyed: they kept the charge of the LORD, at the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses. In this chapter, it's been one year since the original passover when the death angel went thru and killed the first born of any who didn't have the blood in the form of a cross on their door, and the Israelites were finally freed after 400 years of slavery. God wants them to always remember and celebrate the Passover, because it was a picture of their Messiah. The ironic thing is that Jesus was crucified on Passover, and they didn't realize who He was. So, now the tabernacle is set up where they can assemble and break it down, and it's time to begin their journey with GPS (God's Positioning System). God used the pillar of cloud by day and fire by night to guide them thru. When it moved, they moved and when it stopped, they stopped until it moved again. Sometimes it would stop for longer periods and sometimes shorter times. God led them, and some of the areas He led them thru were very scary, and rather than trust God, what did they do? They complained. That's the same thing we do. We complain and say things like, "why would a loving God allow..." I'm guilty of it as well. When trials come, I just want the pain to stop, so I can get back to my comfortable routine. But, if the Israelites didn't move when the pillar moved, they'd burn up in the desert sun in the daytime or freeze in the night time. I'm sure it was more comfortable to stay with the tabernacle assembled and their tents pitched than it was to pack it all up and move, only to stop and assemble everything again, only to break it up and do it all over again. God is more interested in changing our hearts than He is our circumstances. Discomfort is God's way of getting our attention. The more we wiggle and try to get comfortable, the worse it becomes. When Jesus came, the Jews didn't believe because they thought He was here to set up His Kingdom and over throw the Romans to relieve their pain and suffering under the Roman rule. I don't claim to be an expert on the big "why" of it all. But I do know that God has the BIG picture and we just see our little part of the puzzle and the few pieces next to it. I DO know that it all points to the cross and what that signifies. I know that, according to Ephesians 6, that there's an invisible kingdom all around us that we can't see, but it's just as real as anything we CAN see. It's hierarchical: principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in heavenly places. Jesus Kingdom wasn't physical and according to 2 Corinthians 10, the weapons of our warfare aren't carnal (physical), but mighty thru God to the pulling down of strongholds (invisible). We're to be suited up with our armor and cast down every vain imagination and EVERYTHING that raises itself up against the knowledge of God. THEN we can take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. According to James 1, it all begins with a thought. That's the fiery dart that the sheild of faith is to protect us from. Then, we use the sword of the Spirit, the only offensive part of our armor, the Word, that we hide in our heart to attack the thought with. We hide the Word in our heart by reading it. It's like a spiritual ATM machine. We put it in, and when the time is necessary, we draw on it. So, we have on our armor, and a thought comes in, sounding like this: "wow, you really blew it that time", or,  "you're so stupid", or,  "he/she is so much more attractive than you", or "you're ugly, fat, clumsy", I think you get the picture, it's ad infinitum. It's basically a thought telling you that you're not good enough. Or someone does something to hurt us to try and get us into unforgiveness, bitterness and resentment. Our enemy has a whole bag of tricks that he's honed to perfection over the past thousands of years. And we're no match for him in the physical, which is where he always wants to keep it, because when we do, we lose every time. Now, at this point, we have a choice, are we going to take it in and continue down the road to sin and let it bring forth death? Or are we going to cast it down and bring it captive to the obedience of Christ? John 1 tells us that Jesus is the Word made flesh. Jesus and our bible are one in the same. So, what does the Word say about us? God loves me with an everlasting love, He created me before the foundations of the earth. He knit me together in my mother's womb. I'm fearfully and wonderfully made. I can't go anywhere that He doesn't know where I am. Hmmm, do any of the above thoughts line up with this? ABSOLUTELY NOT! So, we use what God says about us to cast down those vain imaginations and bring them captive. We can't bring something captive when we're under it, only when we cast it down can we take it captive. Papa God, thank You for letting me be born under the new covenant rather than the old, where they didn't have any power over the enemy. Thank You for sending Jesus to die on the cross to purchase a place for me in heaven, and resurrect from the dead to give me power over the enemy and his invisible kingdom.

Sometimes i want to put things off for a while and sometimes i can't wait for tomorrow, i want it today, NOW. We all must learn that God's timing is perfect. Do i want to be the Lord of my life or do i want Jesus to be the Lord of my life? Jesus take the wheel and the gas and break pedals.
