Nehemiah 1:9
but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.'

No matter how far we've run from God, no matter what we've done, all we have to do is turn back to Him with a repentant and obedient heart. Then He will bring us back to Himself to live in a restored love relationship.

It shows again, the repentance, lead by Nehemiah. This shows that God has ultimate patience with His people, who had failed His laws and commands numerous times, and yet, He is willing to forgive when there is repentance. God always sets the standard with His own actions, just as He instructed His disciples. Mat 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Him and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Until seven times? (22) Jesus said to him, I do not say to you, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven.

It was the people's sin that brought God's judgment but Nehemiah remembered God's promise to His people and he prayed it back to God. If we want to see our prayers answered we need to learn what Nehemiah knew - God is gracious and He keeps His Word. God's heart is exposed in His Word. As we study and meditate on His Word we will learn what God's will is. We will always be heard when we remind God of His promises.

God is so good! He tells me that if I return to Him and obey His commands He will bring me to the place that He has chosen for me. When I walked away from God and came back to Him and asked for His forgiveness, it was like coming back home (except even better). Thank you God for forgiving me and thank You for Your Word that teaches me your ways and how to live and think your ways. Help me to learn from Nehemiah's unselfishness as he thought of others in praying for them.

We see this being fulfilled today as the Jewish people are returning to Israel. God is faithful to His promises. If we will seek Him, He will meet our needs even though we see tough times. Lord, help us to recognize, through Scriptures like this, that You are faithful to Your promises. If we follow and seek after You, that You will meet our needs regardless of the difficult times, Amen

Nehemiah brought God's word to His rememberance in the previous verse regarding His servant Moses. Verse 9 is a promise that God will have favor on the exiled. Here we see a merciful God with His arms stretched wide to again extend His mercy.
