"Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.

God is warning us to beware of those that want to shout religion everywhere, those that think they are better than others and have to have the best. It is about building a relationship with Jesus, walking hand in hand and not being afraid to stumble. Taking the backseat and allowing others to be first. That is what Jesus has taught us.

This verse tells me that there are indeed those who teach the Word with wrong motives and have a wrong spirit. Many go to places of worship and hear wrong doctrines. That's where reading the Word daily for ourselves is so vital. We know when we hear wrong doctrine if we know the Truth.

AMEN to that Cathy. It is so important to research what is being preached to us, checking it against the context of Scripture. God bless you.

There are sincere Christians who are like the teachers of the law that draw attention to themselves and seek honor for themselves. We should be aware of that lest we become one of them. Honor the Lord, our God.

True Shufen, sometimes we start out with the right motive but pride pops-up and shows it's ugly head. We start to get attention and then want more and more. God bless you!

These are exciting times we, as Christians, live in. Because, now, more than ever, false teachers are so many, even Jesus, Himself declared that. We should pray earnestly for discernment in matters like these, be strongly rooted in the Word and allow the Holy Spirit to move in and through us in matters of the heart, where God lives.
Lloyd S.

So true, Pauline. There are many who desire to draw attention to themselves, rather than Jesus and His truths. God bless you, sister in Christ.

Many people like to be held up high as the knowers of what God wants but their motive is not to support people in following the laws better, but to be held up as important and honored but the people. But His Word is clear, the only one we are to honor is Him.

THERE IS NO BIG OR LITTLE, WE ARE THE SAME IN THE EYE SIGHT OF GOD. SIN IS SIN,THERE'S NONE THAT YOU CAN'T BE FORGIVEN FOR, EXCEPT SELF MURDER. YOU CAN'T TAKE NOTHING TO HEAVEN WITH YOU.

With all due respect Evelyn, you are contradicting yourself. If you've been saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, no sin will damn you.

If there is anyone who can clarify the signifcance in the forgiveness of sin big or small and the type of forgivenes or nonfgivenes of sins, please help us with scriptures that support these facts. I too understand that self murder is not forgiven after childhood also, murder and other sins like homosexuality. We need scripture to correct this or support this. Is thi bibical or what we were taught.

I read this from a Christian brother, whom I agree with wholeheartedly: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39. The separation from God occurs at death for the Christ rejecter. For the born again child of the Most High God there is no separation from Him. Never. It can’t happen, and it won’t happen. Not even death by our own hand can accomplish separation from God.

Wow, the few times that I have heard of these sins (self murder, murder, homosexuality) mentioned in church. They were sins that condemned the soul. Hell is your destination with this type of sin. "Comdemnation to your soul" Wow

Where do people get the idea that they are more important than anyone else? This isn't a rare thing there are lots of people like this. Jesus didn't even act more important than anyone and He had every right to. I have seen many christians who think they are better because they know more or they go to church more ,open your eyes God does not see you as better ,we are all equal in His sight He loves us all the same, He created us in His image . So why do you think you deserve more? You should be humble before God because you don't deserve to be there except through the blood of Christ. You should be a servant among men.
