Leviticus 26:46
These are the decrees, the laws and the regulations that the Lord established at Mount Sinai between himself and the Israelites through Moses.

The Lord expects His commands to be obeyed and will never completely break His covenant with them (or us), even if we wander off track, He will give opportunity to return to Him. However, it is much better to obey, rather than wander away from His commands. Thank You, Lord, for Your steadfastness to the covenants made first with Israel, and then with us, through Jesus. Amen

Wow, All god wants is for us to follow his and abide by his decrees and if not then he tells us what he will do .. So why would you not do as he says rather then live with the enemies winning when you yourself can be on a winning team and have god in your life and watching your back . I continue to learn and grow in the lord . Learning more each day .

To me this should not be seen as punishment for wrong or reward for right yet as when your living in a true and right relationship with God you are living as he expects that's when things tend to go right and when your not when you are doing things your way things tend to get out of control. Free will is amazing it is your free choice to live with or without God at your side. Sure there are times we all mess up but through Jesus the punishment has been taken care of and forgiveness is yours if you have the faith to take it. God wants his best for you and when we choose to step into true faith and live out our purpose as set by God is when it will show up!.

It was almost impossible to be righteous and perfect in observing the laws given to the people at the time of Moses. If you obey the commands then you'd be blessed but if you didn't, you would be punished with plaques, and your enemies overtake and rule over you and more. I can never thank Jesus enough for what he had done on the cross because if he didn't die on the cross, we would perish forever. Jesus knew that the flesh is weak even though the spirit is willing. He knew he had to take that cup so he went back the second time to pray and say "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done." Thank you Jesus.

Great blessings and protection if one obeys and many problems, disease and curse if one disobeys. The principle here still applies today, except it is actually easier to follow the Lord under the new covenant since Christ is in us (by His Holy Spirit). Help me Lord to obey You and serve You only.

Well it is VERY obvious how much our God detests any idol! And much punishment would be inflicted upon those whom adhered not to God's Command against idols! But as God became openly harsh starting in vs 14-40, He also gave hope from vs 40-46. And as I move to the New covenant in Christ, I remember the verses here posted for all to enjoy! How great is our God! How Wonderful to be able to come to The Cross of Christ, and be called the People of God (even gentiles like me)...... Hebrews 12:18-29 New Living Translation (NLT) 18 You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai. 19 For they heard an awesome trumpet blast and a voice so terrible that they begged God to stop speaking. 20 They staggered back under God’s command: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” 21 Moses himself was so frightened at the sight that he said, “I am terrified and trembling.” 22 No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. 23 You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect. 24 You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel. 25 Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking. For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven! 26 When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.”27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain. 28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. 29 For our God is a devouring fire. _______________________Be Exaulted! Lamb of God! Thank you Father for revealing Yourself to me Through Christ Jesus!.....

God is telling his people that we must obey him and we will prosper. He has laid down His laws for us and we must follow them. The Bible is our source of reverance on how to live our lives. God loves us.

Even though these verses were meant specifically for Israel, it is telling me that God blesses those who walk with Him and obey Him, but punish those who are disobedient to Him. I would much rather have God's blessing on my life than be discipline by him.
