Leviticus 2:11
" 'Every grain offering you bring to the Lord must be made without yeast, for you are not to burn any yeast or honey in a food offering presented to the Lord.

Yeast in the Bible represents sin. Just as a grain offering was to be without yeast, when we come before the Lord we need to confess our sins. Thankfully the Lamb of God has taken care of our sin on the Cross! "Give thanks with a grateful heart. Give thanks to the Holy One. Give thanks because He's given Jesus Christ, His Son."

Leviticus 2:11  No grain offering, which you shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with leaven: for you shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire. Leaven was considered a picture of sin. Jesus told us in Matthew 16 and Luke 12 to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. Galatians 5 and 1 Corinthians 5 tell us a little leaven leavens the whole loaf. Back then, they used a pinch of dough from the previous batch to leaven the new batch, like we do with sourdough bread. The way leaven works is a picture of sin and pride which puffs up, and a little can corrupt a large amount. It also says no honey. Honey or today when making bread, we use sugar to feed the yeast aka leaven. Vs 13 says it should always be seasoned with salt. Salt was a natural preservative to keep flesh from spoiling. In ancient customs, a bond of friendship was established thru eating salt together. God wanted every sacrifice to be a reminder of relationship a symbol of agreement and pure abiding friendship. As I've said before, God is an "as" "if" or "when", and "then" God. As we present ourselves to God, it must be in spirit and truth. Then, we come into harmony with God and become friends, with Him. As we draw near to Him, He draws near to us. When we come to terms with Him, He comes to terms with us. We agree to be His obedient and loving children, and He agrees to be our protecting and loving Father. We give ourselves up to be His people, and He agrees to be our God. Jesus told us in Matthew 5 that we're the salt of the earth and salt is no good if it's trampled under foot. If we don't cast down whatever raises itself up against the knowledge of Christ, we can't take it captive. If we don't take it captive, it'll take us captive and we will be trampled under foot as totally irrelevant. Salt is the opposite of leaven. Leaven corrupts taints and hastens putrefaction, salt preserves purifies and keeps wholesome. Colossians 4 says our speech should be seasoned with salt. Jesus words were always that way. He always had the right word at the right time so no one could "entangle Him". Papa God, please sprinkle me with salt and loose the leaven from my heart that no corrupt words come from my mouth, but only what You would have me say, to bring glory to You, in Jesus name, Amen

i truly had to pause here. For I had to know the why's. I am learning the way of the land reading this bible , breaking it down and letting it teach me, but i had to stop and ask why .. Well when i stopped and googled i learned why. God doesnt want something we add to anything that is chemically made, he wants the basics, he wants what he wants. But I do love the fact that god has allowed in these words that no matter how much a person had he would accept it , whether you had the animals or just wanted to give him little like bread. He just wanted it to be done in a certain way. Which I can understand, he wants you to think of what you are giving him and how he wants it .. not how we want to give it.

I understand this statute to be a memorial of the flight from Egypt where the people of Israel were to cook their bread without yeast for they were to be ready to leave at a moment's notice, with their sandals on, staffs in hand and belts in place. The people did not have the luxury of allowing their bread to rise with yeast due to the necessity of leaving in haste.

As Walter stated, yeast is also representative in Scripture of that which thoroughly corrupts. I would imagine Walter is correct in this is probably what the Lord had in mind here.

Yeast and honey (leaven) aid in the fermentation process and are symbolic of corruption which can grow in our hearts. Fermentation may SEEM like a good idea in the beginning (think of a fine wine), but if we let it continue, it will ruin everything (think of a fine wine turned to vinegar). If we let even a tiny bit in, it will grow and eventually rot us from within.
