"a male without defect" representing Jesus, who would come in the future, being perfect, without sin to pay the price for our sins. Thank You, Lord.

The fact to The Lord did not accept a wild animal shows that he expected it to cost something. It was to represent the atonement for their sin.

As we start the book of Leviticus, the overwhelming message of Leviticus is the holiness of God- "you shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy" (19:2). But how can unholy people approach a holy God? The answer - first sin must be dealt with. Thus the opening chapters of Leviticus give detailed instructions for offering sacrifices, which were the active symbols of repentance and obedience. Wheether bulls, grain, goats, or sheep, the sacrifical offerings had to be perfect, with no defects or bruises - pictures of the ultimate sacrifce to come, Jesus, the Lamb of God.

At the time the Lord set up the offering, it was to be a male without defect, just as Jesus Christ would be a male without defect. God gave a foreshadowing of what was to come through Jesus Christ the lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice.

Good Morning Lloyd... I should of read what others said first about 1:3... who would think I picked the same verse and commented almost verbatum what you said... Maybe between the both of us others may see how important and necessary it was for God to make the ultimate and final sacrifice. Catching up on emails... talk to you soon, still praying for you, Bruno

I love the interaction as believers, Nancy. It's time the body of Christ came together and learn and strengthen each other. I often pick up little clues from the comments. God bless you, Nancy.

When you are making an offering to the Lord the offering has to be pure and without any defects so that it may be a pleasing aroma to him

God bless you and all. What I understand from this verse is that in the times of Moses every family had to bring to Moses or Aaron a male animal perfect without any problems to present it to God their sins and make things right between man and God...we should be grateful more to God that we no longer have to do this practice and praise God and give worship to His son Jesus Christ the one that gave His life perfect without sin to die for all humanity's sins..I tell you our God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are Awesome...God bless you all and thanks for reading.

Come to the entrance to the tent of meeting, so that it will be acceptable. Alot of times, and i think its because we know that God "meets us where we are at", we feel like we can bring whatever kind of offering we want, wherever we are at. Communing with God was meant to be intentional. Relationships are meant to be intentional. God wanted the Israelites to bring the offerings before the tent of meeting because that is where GOD was at....They brought their offerings TO HIM. It is a WONDERFUL display of Love that Jesus came down to us...lived on this earth, and died for our sin. And he rose again and ascended to his Heavenly throne! He is the king. Maybe we should meet him where he is at for a change...bring our offerings before our king, to whom WE SAY we give our lives as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1)

Notice the Lord wants our offerings without defect...i.e. NOT the left-overs or whatever we think is OK. I think of the words to the hymn..."Give of the BEST to the Master...." It could be our time, talent, offerings or a Christ-like servant attitude!
