Job 28:28
And he said to the human race,
"The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom,
and to shun evil is understanding."
Peter B.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
The source of Gods wisdom comes from above. Wisdom is the result of fearing God and reverencing Him. Giving reverence to God makes us wise. As Christians we must stand in awe of the greatness of God and His limitless attributes so that we may become truly wise. James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to you.

We are to far God. Not in the way of being afraid to approach him but a respect. We are to obey his commands, refusing to do evil things. We will make mistakes but God hears us we come to him and forgives us.

Job still proclaims his faith in God even after all his trials and persecution by those who know him. Lord help me/us to stand with our faith anchored firmly in You, as did Job, as we proceed through this sometimes troublesome life until we meet You in Your glorious kingdom. Amen

Job 28:28 – So cool that Job would make this statement without the knowledge that we have today. For Job to know the fear of the Lord he must have had a personal relationship with God. His reverence of the Lord is why he departed from all evil. Job trusted that God was good and Job obeyed God’s commands knowing that God’s laws were for Job’s own good. The evidence of our faith is obedience to God’s Word. Father in Heaven, i am thankful and amazed that You stooped down from the wonders of heavens to reach my heart and shepherd me in the ways i should go. Lord help me to abstain from all appearance of evil so that my life may bring glory to Your name.

Oh how sad that so many hundreds of millions don't get it, that "The fear of the Lord" is wisdom. Lord, we can reach a few but I believe it is You who must awaken the hearts of those who do not have the truth of Your word and the wisdom to apply it. Help us, Lord, by Your Holy Spirit to awaken those who have not received the truth of Your wisdom. Amen

Joan was just released from hospital this morning and we are going to pick her up shortly. She had some minor delay due to them giving her too much of one of her meds causing he blood to be too thin. Then yesterday Mar. 12 we believe they did not release her due to the major storm we had so there would be no chance of any accident on the way home, which could be devastating. She's been axious to come home since Sunday. What an amazing bounce back she's had. May have to tie her down so she can heal when I get her home. Thanks so much for the prayers of all the saints on this forum. So appreciated. God bless you all.

Job understood what was later written in Psa 111:10 Pro 9:10 and15:33. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. If we could get true wisdom thru human effort, energy, and ingenuity (like the rare and precious metals of the earth), then the fear of the Lord isn't necessary to obtain wisdom. Man has been trying to get Wisdom without God ever since the fall and God has proved over and again that He uses (what appears to be) foolish things to confound those who think they are so wise. Adam, before his fall, had all the knowledge he needed. Then, afterwards, he realized just how foolish he'd become by not fearing the Lord. Gaining wisdom requires the total sacrifice of our single most precious possession: ourselves, more specifically, our wills. Papa once again I offer myself wholly to You as a living sacrifice. I know it's difficult when Your sacrifice keeps crawling off the altar. Give me the stick-to-it-ness to stay there till You complete the good work You have began in me before the foundations of the world. Please don't let me go back to the battle of Ai, where they said Ai don't need to pray. Ai don't need my full Armor today. Ai can take it from here, God. Cuz Ai know I'll come back bloody and beaten to a pulp without Your Divine wisdom and guidance every minute of every hour today.

GREAT insight Donna, and nice prayer. Funny picture of us crawling off the altar, it is funny but also sad and true.
