Genesis 44:33
"Now then, please let your servant remain here as my lord's slave in place of the boy, and let the boy return with his brothers.
Peter B. from Buchanan, MI said:
Key words: "please let your servant (Judah) remain here as my lord's slave in place of the boy." Judah is not confessing to taking the cup but offers himself to take upon the punishment, from falsely accused Benjamin. Another vision of Jesus Christ here, who took upon Himself our punishment on that cruel cross for our sin, who was sinless who gave Himself freely for all who would believe and call upon His name.

Judas's loyalty is inspiring.....as is his being bound 'by his word'.

Judah is begging for mercy and is turning his life over to become Joseph's slave if necessary. When we confessed our sins to our Lord Jesus and turned around to follow Him, we became Jesus' slave (as Paul would describe us) but Jesus sees us as His brother and friend if indeed we continue to follow Him. He loves us and cares for us. If we go astray, there is always away back (1 John 1:9).

Joseph's test was to see if his brothers had grown spiritually. Judah was the brother who came up with the idea of selling Joseph into slavery. Since the time he last saw Joseph he had lost two sons and his wife. God uses pain, suffering, and sorrow in our lives to help us grow in our faith. That is if we allow Him too. Judah is surely a different man than when Joseph saw him last. He is a man of faith and it's no wonder God will choose his family to bring us the Messiah. Lord I don't cherish suffering but I thank You for what You have done with it in my life!

Judah who had stepped forward with the plan to sell Joseph now steps forward to take Benjamin place and to keep his promise to Jacob. Judah is a new person here, clearly he is willing to do anything to save his brother..Thank you Lord that You makes us new, changing out hearts to be more like You.
