The Israelites always knew the presence of the Lord was with them, first because Moses had always done just as the Lord had commanded, and secondly the Lord revealed Himself with the Cloud of Glory by Day and the Fire in the cloud by night. The Lord makes His presence known to those who follow His commands, even to this day. Lord, help me/us to be obedient to Your commands that I/we may experience Your presents day and night. Amen

Israel was different than any other nation on the earth, for the living God dwelt among them. John tells us in Revelation 21:3-4, "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 'He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." Come Lord Jesus!

With the cloud and the fire, the Israelites knew the presence of the Lord was at hand. Perhaps, if the church was totally obedient to the Lord, we could experience that again. I have surely been in His presence but not as often as I would like.

I must have a Glorious site to the Israelites to see the cloud over the tabernacle by day and the fire by night knowing that God was guiding and protecting in their travels. God is so good and kind to us we should be like the israelites and rely on God for everything in our lives.

This way the Israelites knew that their God was always with them! They should fear nothing as they went their way. Just as today we have God's Holy Spirit to guide us-----we have nothing to fear!!!
