Exodus 29:36
Sacrifice a bull each day as a sin offering to make atonement. Purify the altar by making atonement for it, and anoint it to consecrate it.

key words: "anoint it to consecrate it" We know in this chapter that the sacrifice/purifying shedding of the blood each day of a bull is a sin offering,(Old Testament) Just as we are purified by the Blood of Jesus. But the anointing with oil we know often signifies the Holy Spirit. We are the Temple of God, freed from sin by the Shedding of Blood, the Perfect Sacrifice of Jesus Christ , and filled/anointed by the Holy Spirit.

Very well expressed Peter. Believe you nailed that one squarely. Had our monthly worship and prayer gathering tonight, and wow, Holy Spirit surely made His presence known with words of revelation that were like walking into a dark room and turning the light on. Have a blessed week, Peter, as Holy Spirit reveals more to us each day. :-)

This verse is about being obedient to follow closely what the Lord has directed. In order to purify the altar they must make atonement for their sins and anoint the altar. By sacrificing a bull each day as a sin offering they are being obedient and showing in their actions that they are repentant. I think it's also about following through once you have decided that you are sorry for your sins. Taking actions that God has called you to take. God is saying do this and I will make it right. It shows that we must be willing to follow God's instruction and trust in him.

That verse made me wonder how groups like PETA for instance would react today if those practices were still going on...We are so blessed to be able to come to the throne of God without having to sacrifice anything every day. It is unfortunate that people today will raise their concerns for animal rights, women's rights, pro this, pro that, and the list goes on, but will not proclaim openly His name so that all may hear. Thank you for allowing us to come to you freely, no need to bring an offering every day. Thank you for that freedom to praise and worship you any time, any where.
