Acts 13:48
When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed.

"all who were appointed for eternal life believed.".... What a great feeling it is and had to of been back in the times of Jesus to hear this and understand that they and we too are appointed for eternal life.....where does eternal life begin....it begins with the acceptance of Jesus in your heart and when he comes to live inside you, he brings with him eternal life....we can have and do have eternal life here and now....in our existence here on this earth we can access eternal life....we can live that life as Jesus lives in us.....it says in John 3:16 " 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life."..... enough said.....eternal life is within us.....God Bless!!

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Despite the Jews jealously and envy of Paul and Barnabas of preaching the word of God the Gentiles accepted Christ. When the unadulterated word of God is preached there will be a reaction good or bad the true word of God cuts to the heart and shows how far you are from God. God does the choosing that is what the word appointed comes from. God chooses who will be saved and it's up to us to accept. Paul and Barnabas were vessels being used by God.

What a privilege it is to be appointed or chosen by God to become a believer and have eternal life! Thank you Lord for saving me.

I pray that people do not take this verse to mean that God has chosen only specific individuals to be believers but it is that He foreknew who WOULD choose to believe and in that sense they have been appointed. God knew before the universe was formed, who would make the decision for Christ. (Rom. 8:29)
