There was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the days of Solomon son of David king of Israel there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem.

Hezekiah had done his best to turn the nation back to the Lord. With Hezekiah's efforts, the Lord in verse 20, even showed mercy upon those who had not been ceremonially cleansed. Hezekiah's efforts to turn his people back to the the worship of the Lord showed great results. Lord, would you give us national leaders around the world who would honor You, and turn their nations back to the fear of the Lord, beginning right hear in our nation.

What a scene! It takes us back to the dedication of the temple. People from all over Judah and Israel together again in Jerusalem worshiping God. It reminds me of the heavenly city, The New Jerusalem, where right now believers are gathered from all over the world around the throne worshiping God and His Son, Jesus Christ. One day we will join them. Oh what a day that will be!
