1 Samuel 7:3
So Samuel said to all the Israelites, "If you are returning to the Lord with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the Lord and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines."

Key Phrase from Samuel: If you are returning to the Lord with all your hearts, then rid yourselves of the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths and commit yourselves to the Lord and serve Him only. We can apply this to us. God does not take lightly that people have idols in their life. He has given us commands to not have any Gods before Him, and He will punish people accordingly. He gave us these laws, which are the fires two commandments in order to keep us looking forward to Him and no one else. Only by giving reverence to the one true God of the heaven and earth and Him alone will be saved. Exodus 20:5 You shall not bow down to them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God

You nailed that one precisely, Peter. He is the only true God, always has been and always will be. Sad that more don't realize the fact that He is Lord of all, and their false gods and idols will only find them the fires of hell. Rev 20:15  And if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the Lake of Fire. Be blessed brother, and you're right about winter being upon us. Currently 0 degrees and sunny but prediction calling for 4 to 8 inches of snow for the weekend. :-)

1 Samuel 7:3 - 1. Return to the Lord. 2. Clean house and get rid of anything and everything that is not pleasing to the Lord. 3. Pour out you heart to the Lord as they did by in verse 6 by pouring out their water and fasting and confessing their sin. 4. Don't stop praying as Sammy continued to pray in verse 7. In verse 8 Sammy offer up a lamb. We do not have to do this because the Lamb of God, Jesus, has already been offered.

This is fustrating because you would think the isrealites would get it by now...DON'T WORSHIP IDOLS! But on the other hand this verse blesses me because it reminds me of Gods mercy because even though we don't bow down to statues we still make idols of people places and things created in our hearts over and over again. Thank you Lord for your constant love.
