1 Kings 7:51
When all the work King Solomon had done for the temple of the Lord was finished, he brought in the things his father David had dedicated—the silver and gold and the furnishings—and he placed them in the treasuries of the Lord 's temple.

I cannot imagine the cost of all the artifacts of the temple, especially in today's dollars. The ones made of bronze, gold and cedar would have been an enormous cost, even at that time but all was to glorify the Lord God Almighty, Creator of the universe and all that is within. Solomon surely spared nothing to erect a holy place for God to inhabit at that time, but now He resides in believers by His Holy Spirit. Acts 5:32  And we are His witnesses of these things. And so also is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him.

Amen Lloyd you explained the cost to fill the Temple back then was enormous, the Labor wasn't bad food and household items for payment, almost like an act of bartering back then. Today's dollars would be astronomical, we did end up with the same results the Holy Spirit resides in us. Might make it to 60 degrees tomorrow. Blessings brother prayers for Italy country is in a lock down.

This is a difficult chapter just to fill the Temple of God, with the riches that the world had to offer. We know that the building of the Temple represented the presences of God and the absence of sin. As Christians we know Jesus is the presence of God and the absence of sin, Jesus is the High Priest and the final sacrifice, Jesus is the true Temple of God, whom dwells in us.

Amen Peter. Same verse again and with the same train of thought, even though expressed a bit differently. Jesus lives in us by His Holy Spirit, being one in the same God. God bless you Peter. Just made the freezing point here today, but predicting 48 tomorrow. Surely been a roller-coaster winter this year. :-)

The temple surely would have been a work to see. I can't imagine the cost in today's dollars but Solomon surely spared nothing for the house of the Lord he wanted to honor.

Solomon did all this to honor the Lord. We need to ask ourselves How Can We Honor The Lord? We can't build a Temple. But we can Obey Him, to know his presence in our Life. Obey his commands, spend quiet time in prayer and reading His word. Merry Christmas to my Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

Surely, obedience to the Lord is honoring Him, Peter. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well.

This all Sounds very elaborate. I searched for pictures of the palace, but couldn't find any, so all these descriptions mean nothing to me.

I cannot even imagine the magnificence of the temple, not to mention the cost of such a structure. It seems that at this time Solomon honored the Lord, as well as his father, David. It again brings to mind how even though Solomon honored the Lord here, at the time, and yet later on he dishonored the Lord by straying so far form His commands. It shows me that I must pay attention to what the Lord wants, as the enemy would love to tempt and lead me astray. Help me, Lord, to follow only Your direction for my life to the end of life here so that I will experience Your glory for eternity, and I pray that as well for my brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen
