1 Kings 19:21
So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.

1 Kings 19:21 - i like how Elisha burns the bridges behind him. No turning back. Jesus said, if your hand is on the plow but your eyes are looking backward, then you're not fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:63 Voice) Heavenly Father, i have decided to follow Jesus. Though i may wonder, i still will follow. No turning back, no turning back. The world behind me, the cross before me. No turning back, no turning back. Though none go with me, still i will follow. No turning back, no turning back. Will you decide now to follow Jesus? No turning back, no turning back.

Just as Elisha left everything to follow Elijah, Christ calls us to follow him. By burning his plowing equipment and eating his oxen, it indicated his "no going back," attitude.

Elisha was making a strong commitment to follow Elijah. By slaughtering his oxen, he could no longer return to his life as a wealthy farmer. The meal was an offering of thanks, as Elisha surrendered his will and his life to God.
