1 Chronicles 4:10
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request.

This has always amazed me, that Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and he called out to God, known as the "Prayer of Jabez" but the person of Jabez is not mentioned anywhere else in Scripture. It is quoted in 1Chron 2:55 that the Scribes lived at the place called Jabez but the person of Jabez appears nowhere else in all the Bible.

He seemed to be a man who wanted a relationship with God, he knew he needed Gods help. And he knew that God was all powerful, so he asked God's hand to be with him. Interesting insight to your verse Lloyd and you backed it up with scripture. Either way God answered his prayer. Blessings brother God's plan is coming together.

We see in this verse that Jabez indeed, was a man of sorrow, he must have been going through some difficult times, and cried out to the God of Israel. In his desperation, desperate prayer comes in and everything changes. God had granted what Jabez requested. Jabez represents anybody who is going through difficulties in life. As Christians we need to live a life of Prayer and rely On God. Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you.

Amen Peter. Once again we chose the same verse but with a little different perspective in our comments. It has always amazed me that he was some obviously open to God, and yet he is never again mentioned in Scripture. Your notice of his trust in God, and his calling out to Him is noteworthy, and a key point, that when we don't know what to do in times of trouble, we can call out to the Lord. Blessings Peter, as we close out another week and wait upon the Lord. :-)

Just as Jabez asked the God of Israel we are told in Matthew 7:7 - Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

The prayer of Jabez. An amazing request to God, which God answered, and yet to the best of my knowledge, Jabez is never again mentioned in Scripture. Such a significant request and answer to prayer, yet never again mentioned.

The Faith of Jabez he prayed a simple prayer and God blessed him and granted his request. It is God's nature to bless His people. God has no shortage of Blessings we can ask Him daily. Things will happen if we ask it in prayer.

Amen, Peter. It has just always puzzled me, why Jabez is, to the best of my knowledge, ever again mentioned. He was obviously a righteous, God fearing man but never again heard form or about. God bless you, Peter.

1 Chronicles 4:10 – To me God is saying, My child, pray to me more and more passionately. Pray for strength to move outside your comfort’s zone. Ask me and keep on asking me to fill you with My Spirit and that you would be aware of My presence continually. Ask and keep on asking me to take away your pain. Pray that I would keep you from sinning against Me. TALK TO ME, I am always here to listen to your voice and your heart. I will answer your prayers in my perfect timing because I love you so much. And keep reading My Word, it’s not boring, it’s My love letter to you.

Jabez wanted to rise above the meaning of his name. Just bcuz someone called us bad names as kids didn't make it true. God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me. I'm the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Amazing, Jabez is only mentioned in these couple of verses in the Bible and yet these couple of verses were enough to enlighten the church today to ask God to expend our territory. Most will remember Bruce Wilkinson's little book entitled the Jabez Prayer that expands on these two verses verses and especially verse 10. Amazing what God can do with a single verse of His holy word.

To pray to God that he would bless me might not seem right to some, but I know Him as Lord and Savior and claim His promises, provision, and plan for my life. Not saying I'm deserving, only redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

God granted Jabez his request. What a thought! The Creator of the ends of the earth is concern about the small and the large affairs of His prize creation, man. Amen!! So may we cry out to the Lord with our praises as well as our needs. Remember, the Lord answered Jabez request when Jabez wanted God to bless him with great blessings, and He is able to do the same for us as well. Amen.

So true, Ruth, and Jabez is mentioned only here in the entire Bible. Bruce Wilkinson, a few years ago, wrote the little book entitled "The Prayer of Jabez" and expanded on Jebez' prayer. The church today needs to call on God to expand its territory. I believe the church today is being shaken out of its religious state and will be expanded like never before, only not as we have known it. Come Holy Spirit and reform us into what you want us to be and do. Amen
