This has always amazed me, that Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and he called out to God, known as the "Prayer of Jabez" but the person of Jabez is not mentioned anywhere else in Scripture. It is quoted in 1Chron 2:55 that the Scribes lived at the place called Jabez but the person of Jabez appears nowhere else in all the Bible.

We see in this verse that Jabez indeed, was a man of sorrow, he must have been going through some difficult times, and cried out to the God of Israel. In his desperation, desperate prayer comes in and everything changes. God had granted what Jabez requested. Jabez represents anybody who is going through difficulties in life. As Christians we need to live a life of Prayer and rely On God. Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open to you.

The prayer of Jabez. An amazing request to God, which God answered, and yet to the best of my knowledge, Jabez is never again mentioned in Scripture. Such a significant request and answer to prayer, yet never again mentioned.

The Faith of Jabez he prayed a simple prayer and God blessed him and granted his request. It is God's nature to bless His people. God has no shortage of Blessings we can ask Him daily. Things will happen if we ask it in prayer.

Jabez wanted to rise above the meaning of his name. Just bcuz someone called us bad names as kids didn't make it true. God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me. I'm the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Amazing, Jabez is only mentioned in these couple of verses in the Bible and yet these couple of verses were enough to enlighten the church today to ask God to expend our territory. Most will remember Bruce Wilkinson's little book entitled the Jabez Prayer that expands on these two verses verses and especially verse 10. Amazing what God can do with a single verse of His holy word.

God granted Jabez his request. What a thought! The Creator of the ends of the earth is concern about the small and the large affairs of His prize creation, man. Amen!! So may we cry out to the Lord with our praises as well as our needs. Remember, the Lord answered Jabez request when Jabez wanted God to bless him with great blessings, and He is able to do the same for us as well. Amen.
