Matthew 18:15
"If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
This verse also applies to ourselves, not just to others. Sometimes we hurt others and must go to them and ask for forgiveness. It seems like I do this more than I mean to. I need to work on this alot more.

Matthew 16:12
Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
A little yeast affects a whole batch of dough. The same goes for sin. A small lie can grow to epic proportions

Matthew 14:30
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
Although we start out with good intentions, sometimes our faith falters. This doesn' mean we have failed. We must reach out to Christ, the onle one who can help. Even though we are fearful of our circumstances, we need to look to Christ, the only one who can really help.

Matthew 12:35
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
You can tell what kind of a person I am by what I say and do! Sometimes when I go to the store I forget to pay for something in my cart. I notice it when I get to the car. I go back in the store and pay for it. What did I acomplish? It showed people what is in my heart.

Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
Matt 11:28-30
A person may be carrying heavy burdens of sin, excessive demands of religious leaders, oppression and persecution, or weariness in the search of God.
Jesus freed me from all these burdens. The rest that Jesus promises is love, healing, and peace with God, not the end of all labor. My relationship with God changed meaningless, wearisome toil into spiritual productitivity and purpose.

Matthew 10:42
And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward."
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
How much we love God can be measured by how well we treat others. Jesus example of giving a cup of cold water to a thirsty child is a good molel of unselfish service. A child usually can't or won't return a favor. You do not do for other for the rewards you get. You don't scratch someones back just to get yours scratched!

Matthew 9:6
But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins." So he said to the paralyzed man, "Get up, take your mat and go home."
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
I can say I love God and others, but if I do not take practical steps to demonstrate that love , my words are empty and meaningless. How well do my actions back up what I say?

Matthew 8:28
When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
These men Jesus encountered were unclean in three ways: they were non-Jews, they were demon possessed, and they lived in a graveyard. Jesus helped them anyway. We should not turn our backs on people who are repulsive to us, or violate our moral standards and religious beliefs. Instead, we must realize that every human individual is a unique creation of God, needing to be touched by God. we should never turn our nosed up at them and turn away. If Gods' children can't love and help them how will they know Gods love. We must not act like the world but like our Heavenly Father. In this way we can draw them to God and His love.

Matthew 7:10
Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
Asking for bread and fish are necessary items. If a child asks for a poisonous snake, would a wise father grant his request? Sometimes God knows we are praying for "snakes" and does not give us what we ask for, even though we persist in our prayers. As we learn to know God better as a loving Father, we learn to as for what is good for us, and then He grants it.

Matthew 6:25
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Linda C. from Somewhere said:
Worry immobilzes, but concern moves you to action.
