Proverbs 15:4
The soothing tongue is a tree of life,
but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit.

Many times I have spoken in anger and crushed the spirit of the ones I love the most. I have learned that it is far better to listen, ask forgiveness and speak softly. Hold things of disagreement to yourself and pray for a solution. Prudence and a humble spirit listen to what Wisdom would instruct. We will give an account for every idle word we say. May we speak words of encouragement and love just as Jesus speaks to us.

Proverbs 14:10
Each heart knows its own bitterness,
and no one else can share its joy.

As we look within ourselves, the pains and the remembrance of sin do not immediately dissipate when we confess them. Soul ties remain and must be dealt with as they come to remembrance so as not to pollute what was made clean. This is part of our salvation. Working out our salvation with fear and trembling. Taking every thought into captivity. The mind is a battlefield we must traverse on our journey to the Father. I praise God for His love of us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. His Grace is sufficient and Christ has already won the battle. We simply need to exercise our faith and faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.

Proverbs 13:10
Where there is strife, there is pride,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

I have never really looked at strife as prideful. However, once my eyes became accustomed to this knowledge I saw that my pride is what was causing so much of the strife in my life. I have been guilty of pride in more situations than I can count. I thank my God and my Savior Jesus that His Grace is evident that while I was still a sinner Christ died for me. Wisdom is crying out in the streets. Hear her. Allow the Spirit to enter and lead you into all truth.

Proverbs 11:24
One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.

Freely ye have received, freely give. It has always been my experience that when I withhold because of fear of not having enough, I never have enough. When I am generous, I always have in abundance. It has played out this way countless times in my life. Give us this day our daily bread, comes to mind. We are not to store up for ourselves here on earth. God is gracious to provide what we need. So long as I keep my eyes on Him, I have more than I need and can be a blessing to others.

Proverbs 10:19
Sin is not ended by multiplying words,
but the prudent hold their tongues.

I am always wanting to defend myself. I have learned that it is far better to simply listen, apologize and ask for forgiveness. God will defend me, I do not need to justify myself because He has already sent His Son. If I keep my eyes on Jesus everything falls into place. It is when I lose focus that situations escalate. As long as I look to Him who loved me first, it is well with my soul.
