Acts 11:24
He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord.

We will all have a birth date and an date of death on our tomb stone (if the Lord should tarry) and in between those two dates is a dash...which represents our life...This verse is Barnabas's dash...a life given over to living wholeheartedly for the Lord and allowing God full reign as He used his life to impact eternity!!! May the Lord please help us through the power of His Spirit to live lives that are worthy of being called His children and to do better than we even know how to do!

Acts 10:47
"Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have."

These kinds of verses have been a conformation to my understanding, since I came out of a religious background that taught infant baptism and that baptism administered some type of grace. Here we see that the people heard the truth first... (faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God). Secondly, he believed the message and received the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.(for by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God...) We know this because they received the Holy Spirit (...the Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children) and thereby we are able to follow the Lord in obedience to scripture through the waters of baptism which is simply an outward confirmation of our inward decision! Hence, "Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water...They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have."

Yep, welcome to my world... I was there too ( : But I noticed what is also amazing about this book, after they beleived, every time - almost immidiately, they became baptized. They didn't wast any time.

I agree. When I received Christ and told my mother I was baptized, she said; why would you be baptized, you were baptized as a baby. I said to her, that was your committing me to God and since I was not old enough to understand that I needed to receive Christ personally and confess Him as Lord it was not a witness of my own faith but your committing to raise me in the faith as best you knew. She did not understand that there needed to be a personal committment and confession of faith. I have tried different times but her religiosity has closed her mind. It is sad that so many churches teach religion rather than the truth of God's word. Praise the Lord that He put someone in my path that opened the truth to me.

Amen Bruno and Lloyd..Thanks for posting keep being light and salt my brothers and God will use even this testimony to bring encouragement to others as it has me! God Bless! Lloyd most of my immediate family is still blinded by their religiosity...but God can remove the scales off their eyes as He did for us...I will pray for your Mom and covet your prayers for my family as well! Bruno...I was born in Brooklyn and grew up in VA...I still have a lot of family in NY who are Catholics and are like sheep being led to the slaughter! I was "baptized" Catholic and converted Greek Orthodox (which recognizes the Catholic baptism) since they are almost one in the same Religion...

Guys, I grew up in the Catholic Religion also, never prompted to study God's Word. The Bible says to be baptized after salvation, thru faith in Jesus. Let us please pray for those Fathers who heard our confessions, that they may also confess to God and ask for the forgiveness of their sins through faith in the name of Jesus.

Praise the Lord for delivering you too...and we absolutely need to pray for those priest and the people of the eastern and western orthodox religions because it has such a strong generational brain washing stronghold...and it is very difficult to witness to them!

Hi Marilyn. Wow, I was Born in CA and moved to Brooklyn (Bushwick) because I married there and and her entire family are Jehovah's Witnesses (talk about "relgiosity"!). My wife used to be (was kicked out before we met), she is a Christian now, but now her entire family no longer speak to her, and to me minimal because they rent the house we own there. Coincidently, its only about 2 miles from "Watchtower HQ" and many JW's roam the streets. We have an extra floor that is open and I had an amazing idea to have "Free Prayer Days" (advertised by a sign) for all who want/need prayer when I am in Brooklyn. Likewise, please pray for me that this may be possible, and as well as God removing those scales from her family's eyes, and I'll do the same for you - one more prayer warrior is always good ! God Bless, Bruno

It sounds like a wonderful plan that the Lord has put on your heart and I will pray that God continues to direct your path and protect your steps as He paves the way and allows this opportunity to come to fruition and uses it for the expansion of His kingdom and for His glory! Your wife is like me, in that, we may have lost our earthly families but have gained so much more when we were given and placed in the body and family that God is forming! We need each other, and I am so thankful to the church and for brothers and sisters that we can commune and share with that we may not ever meet on this side of glory but will be spending all of eternity with!!! Thanks for your prayers too! God Bless!!!

Acts 8:6
When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said.
Marilyn D.

Very intriguing passage about the signs that Philip performed. It almost connotes that the crowds paid attention to Philip's teaching of Christ because of the signs...We are in an age of grace, the age of miracles was clearly during the life of the apostles. I believe that God is still in the business of miracles but not to bring people to Himself. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. We can easily identify through Scripture how experiential minded mankind is and how quickly it becomes disenchanted as we read many accounts of God's grace and mercy throughout the O.T. especially in the accounts of Exodus. Although they saw Jesus healing people by the groves of incurable diseases and conditions including raising people from the dead, they still had "stiff necks" and " hardened hearts" as they rejected and impaled Him to the cross. We have God's heart and mind penned out in Scripture which is the infallible, inherent word of God. It is given to us for the Holy Spirit to use as God molds, shapes and transforms us into His Son's likeness. Satan is cleaver and does all He can to engage our flesh and our sin nature. He has many schemes and uses them under the guise of Christianity. My prayer is that the Lord will help us to keep our eyes focused on Him and the finished work of the cross and that we will faithfully worship God by loving Him wholeheartedly, obeying Him supremely and trusting Him completely as we study His word!

God is still using His miracles to bring people to Himself, Marilyn. I know a pastor about three hours away from us, who has a healing anointing and is seeing dozens come to Christ because of the miracles He is performing through this pastor. He is one excited man and I have prayed with him more than once. He loves the LOrd with everything in him. God bless.

Acts 7:55
But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.

Marilyn D. from Chesapeake, VA said:
Stephen was obviously given incredible boldness and confidence through the power of the Holy Spirit and an extra measure of Grace as he begins to endure incredible hostility, through a mob attack and horrific scene of murder...God obviously demonstrates His compassion, and what great comfort it must of been to Stephen as God reveals His glory and Stephen see's the Lord Jesus...ready to usher him into heaven!!!. A beautiful display and reminder of God's promises that He will never leave us or forsake us and that only through trusting and obeying Him can we have a peace that surpasses all understanding!
Lloyd S.

Amen, Marilyn. I too have experienced that "peace that surpasses all understanding" when I lost a foot to diabetic complications just 24 years ago, and God gave me such peace that it even shocked the surgeon. I had not a worry in the world, and it even changed my life, since I was an outdoors person and my life changed dramatically. Yet I had total peace...!!! What an awesome God we have. God bless.

Acts 6:7
So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

I love the progress report recorded by Luke...and that God gave great liberty to Stephen, a man full of grace and power! It amazes me that the Sanhedrin (and possibly those that resided over the trials of the Lord...)saw his face and professed that it was like the face of an angel...Yet still reject...This is evidence of the hardening of the heart and that the heart is desperately wicked...!
