Amen, Linda. Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

We will all have a birth date and an date of death on our tomb stone (if the Lord should tarry) and in between those two dates is a dash...which represents our life...This verse is Barnabas's dash...a life given over to living wholeheartedly for the Lord and allowing God full reign as He used his life to impact eternity!!! May the Lord please help us through the power of His Spirit to live lives that are worthy of being called His children and to do better than we even know how to do!

Barnabas was a good man and brought people to Christ by his loving teaching and example of faith. As Christians we should strive every day to lead someone to Christ by our loving example, not by harsh teaching and condemnation.

You are right Lois we should all be striving to lead some to Christ and it should be with compassion, however faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word God...How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:17, & 14

Marilyn, I think you had it right the first time. We should strive to lead some, if not many, to Christ.

Marilyn, I think you misunderstand my meaning......yes they must first hear the word of God be it from a preacher or us as individuals but I belive some are driven away when we teach and preach only condemnation and salvation from hell. Salvation is the acceptance of grace and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. This shoud be taught along with conviction of sins.

Thanks Henry...and Lois...you are absolutely correct as our church holds a strong grace philosophy and is a bible teaching preaching church...Expository!!! You are also correct in stating that we can't scare people into profession with fire, hell and brimstone teaching as this could result in an emotionally charged decision...and not the work of the Spirit...God Bless and thanks for sharing!
