So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.

When Christ died on the cross for my sin and I accepted Him as my Lord and Savior, I died to myself, to the law and became a new person in Jesus Christ.

Christian, if you are confused about your job description, it is good to mediate on those words: "belong to....Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God" I belong to Jesus! I am His willing slave. Jesus wants to use me to "bear fruit for God"! I "belong to Him so that I will bear fruit". None of that, "Now I've got my ticket to heaven punched, I'll just kick back and enjoy the ride"...no, not at all. It's time to get to work!

Even though I have died to the law. Meaning the law has no power over me. Should I break the law? Absolutely not. This means I will not be judged by the law. I belong to Christ Jesus for my salvation. Jesus says in Matthew 5:17-18. Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Jesus I was judged by you, found guilty, but you paid my penalty. Thank you Jesus.

Including the verses Romans 7:1-3, (Ref. Romans 6:4), Baptism in Christ, we are dead to the world and married to Christ.. We become the Bride of Christ.. Therefore as Christians we are to fully submit our way, life, and truth to Him. We are making a commitment, allowing Jesus to be the Spiritual Leader of the household and knowing Jesus is the head of the church body. To turn back to serve the world would be Spiritual adulty. Remember, we would be dead to the world, no longer one of his own, the world wouldn't be the same. We are alive in Jesus. We belong to him. If one should turn back, and then decided to come home, Jesus full of Grace and Truth will receive them with open arms. All for the purpose that we can have a life full of Love, peace, Joy, gentleness, goodness, meekness, faith, longsuffering, and temperance..the fruit of God.. Without realizing it, we will touch others heart and they will Glorify God the Heavenly Father.

You're so right. We often touch others' lives by our behavior and we don't even realize it. We should always try to live by the fruits of the Holy Spirit. It's a tall order to fill, but we must continue in faith to try and live in a manner pleasing to our Lord

The first verses of this chapter spoke to my heart to describe the personal relationship we have with Jesus. We are bound to him in Life and for eternity. For the Grace and Mercy given, If I where to totally turn away from Jesus and take up living back in the world. The world taking care of his own, I am dead to the world and no longer on of his, nothing in the world would go may way. There wouldn't be peace, any joy, or any other fruit of the Spirit in my life. But Jesus would allow me to return to Him. As a Good Shepherd, He is already looking, found me, walking with me, waiting for to turn around around and say "Jesus, My Lord."
