What a powerful and true statement. It is only our faith in, and the grace of Jesus Christ, that preserves us from falling for the trap of Satan who wants to destroy us. Paul is telling us here, in Romans 7 that we are all slaves to our sins. We are slaves to sin not by choice, but by birthright, as we were born into sin. And because of Jesus we are set free from the spiritual bondage of sin, setting us free from sin and making us citizens of Heaven. And as Christians we are free to go into the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

the Christian life is a struggle. we will struggle with the sin nature until we are with Christ. But this struggle is for our good. Just like a caterpillar must struggle from its cocoon in order to strengthen it's wings so it can fly when it emerges, we must struggle in this life so we can mount up with wings as eagles and be victorious. the good news is that we do not struggle alone. we now have the power of God in us. we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

It is amazing how when we desire, so strongly, to obey God's law, our sinful nature works to draw us back into our former sin riddled world. However, most of the time our love for Christ gives us the grace (power) to overcome the sinful desires in us. When we do slip, His mercy is there fore us, if we confess it to Him. 1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Thank You Lord, for Your grace and mercy when I sin, and confess to You. Help me Lord to have the will and grace to overcome all sin. Amen

Thanks to God who has given his only begotten son to deliver me through his blood so that I may live an everlasting life through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior as long as I believe in him I shall not perish. Therefor I must choose Gods law and not the law of a sinful nature.

We have to fight our sinful nature with all our might to so that we may do the will of God through Jesus Christ. If our minds and souls say yes to Jesus Christ we must be strong enough to say no to our sinful ways in Jesus name.
